Thanks mate. I'm sure you'll be hearing from them soon enough. To be honest, the part about under consideration got me too. I want to celebrate but that's thrown me because it indicates that it's not a done deal until there's a contract in front of me. The info I'm being given though is that really it's just a formality at this stage.

I haven't said anything about the job to anybody yet. I guess everybody that entered the civil service went through the same tip toe process. Hopefully they will get back soon and the celebration can begin.

Me neither havent said anything in my current job yet. Not sure on location of role know it will be in Dublin. They say they dont contact current reference until all other steps of clearence are completed which is fair. Also heard that under consideration means just a formality.

If it's DSP infrastructure, it could be the data centre on Con Colbert Rd Kilmainham.

I got a text from PAS the other day asking me to check my messages so I got quite excited but it turned out to just be an invitation to complete a survey on their recruitment process. Although it did alright getting 19th in OOM, I selected 4 Irish midlands locations (Westmeath, Offaly, Laois & Longford) so not getting my hopes up too much about hearing anything really anytime in the near future although the original advert did mention that posts in Laois were to be expected.

Did they let u know before they contacted references? Ive given my e vetting and health form etc and other documents and my referees but they say on the form they ask ure permission first before contacting current employer - ive yet to tell mine (was planning on it once im cleared for all and its the last step.)

Yes. They asked me for permission to contact my previous employer and then after a few days asked again for my permission with current employer. I haven't heard anything since then. If something wasn't right they would have contacted me. I suppose they're taking on staff in groups rather than individuals. Hold tight they'll contact you.

Great to hear, thats good to know they do ask first. Yeah im sure its absolutely grand id say you will hear any day now. That seems to be the very last step.

Im from an IT Support background so hoping i get a role in that line but you dont know really i guess! Anyway, change can be good.

Yes, same role and dept. I have a start date. It took about a week from letting me know they were contacting references to discussing a start date with me.

I don't think it would do any harm. The delay may be due to your previous/ current employer being slow in providing them with the reference. Only one way to find out!!.

How long does the e vetting process take and for them to process your documentation health form etc before asking permission to contact references does anyone know? Sent my stuff last tues. Id say ill hear in a few days

the e vetting was done quickly actually, i've been waiting 4 weeks for the CMO clearance and i'm getting really frustrated now, i contacted the CMO office earlier today and they said PAS would be in touch with me but PAS are not responding to my emails, i contacted them on Thursday and sent two emails today and still no update. It's turning into a joke now.

Thats annoying. Chief Medical Office yeah? Hopefully you get some clarity soon. Nothing worse than everything being up the air. Have your references been contacted or no until your cleared? Any idea where ure going? I know department not location

There's no problem at all in ringing them. I find PAS very helpful to deal with.

I called PAS . I was told that because of the department I'm under consideration for, they have another layer of vetting they do themselves. So waiting out for that to go through. Hopefully will hear something back soon.

Ah makes sense! Glad u got an answer and update. I also contacted. My vetting is still in process but i dont think for the same reason as yours. Maybe theres just a backlog. Good to get an update they are very efficient i have to say when you get in touch v helpful.
