    What? Wait?
    You have Aertel Teletext?
Yes I have UPC. I cancelled the TV package and only have UPC basic unlimited broadband. I have 4 UPC installed tv points in my house and all of these still have analogue TV working on them. I have android boxes streaming in more TV on the broadband.

Most channels do not have teletext, some have frozen out of date ones, like TV3 is ancient stuff listed. I use RTE for now & next and news.

Some people think it finished years ago or that nobody uses it. My friend has a good name for it
me- "did you see that band are playing soon"
him -"where did you hear that?"
    -me "on rte teletext"
-him "oh, on the old jungle drums"

Who held the Irish rights to Good Morning Britain?

You're showing an incredible naivete with regards to TV - and, in particular, sports - rights.

It's not just a question of UTV Ireland buying the rights to the Champions League if it suits them - negotiations for the rights to the Champions League are non-negotiable once completed.

Rights for games in Ireland are presently held by TV3 & Setanta Sports (and Sky Sports).
I don't know who held the friggin rights for GMB. I just watch the telly!
With regards to me being naïve about TV rights.....Mea Culpa!!!!!
I just know that last year we could watch CL football on ITV, and now we can't! This is an observation on the service that was imposed upon us with the advent of UTVI. Last year we had it. This year we don't.

"We" can still watch Champions League football on ITV (that's where I'll be watching it tonight)

Cable only viewers won't be able to of course but "we" still can.

Maybe radiowaves has one of those service providers that broadcasts live events 24 hours before they take place. I'm sure "They" will be cleaning up with Paddy Power on Wednesday morning when "They" get all the forecasts bang on!:p

ITV won't broadcast Champions League from next sept. BT hold the rights. Irish rights are held by TV3, RTÉ and Setanta.

UTV Ireland had a contact with the teleshopping company which just ended hence why they where slow to put on GMB

How did UTVI, have a "contract" with the teleshopping company?
It's only existed since 1st January.
    Who's gonna take out a 3 week contract??

Advertisers, rolling contract. UTV decided not to renew. They had the rights to GMB from 1st Jan as Lorraine is part of GMB.

    Missed the "r" no spellcheck.

They could have badly taken those CL rights from TV3 from next year.. Big mistake from UTV not to win them imo..

That's assuming TV3 have enough reserves to sustain operations for a full 3-year contract - can a commercial channel be viable with a top regular rating below 200k?

Yeah as long as they can get big sports on the channel. IMO sport rights on TV3 will bring TV3 to the level they had with coro st. And Emmers

No it was actually the 2nd for that week

    RTÉ ONE 19.3%
    RTÉ2 8.6%
    TV3 7.4%
    UTV I 6%
    3e 2.6%
    TG4 1.9%
    RTÉ ONE +1/RTÉjr 0.6%

Problem for Irish TV channels is they can't see to grow they are basically robbing each others audience with around 45% share of the audience.

TV3+1 had 0.16% of the audience in Jan.

That's what we're saying When big sports appear on channels they get a good improvement in their audience figures. RTÉ2's 2012 9% share was down almost entirely to Soccer and the Olympic Games

TV3 should see a 10% for 2015 just because of RCW 2015 alone. In the same way it used Coro St and Emmers.

TV3's viewing figures haven't changed all that much since 1998.

    Oct 1998 (medialive Adults 15+)

    Rank Programme Name 000's
    1 Babysitter's Seduction 132
    2 Kickboxer 120
    3 When Cars Attack 113
    4 Baby Snatcher 108
    5 Timecop 105
    6 Rambo: First Blood 103
    7
    Touching Evil 103
    8 Early Edition 102
    9 Death of a Cheerleader 103
    10 Early Edition 96
    11 Universal Soldier 95
    12 Halloween 93
    13 Morrison Murders 91
14 Legends of the Fall 89

Who's yer man that reads the news? Flicked over and watched for first time last night. He's not very good is he? He's nearly looking down at his desk when talking to a guest. Looks very nervy and tired.

Is he still doing the breakfast show on Newstalk? That's probably why he's so tired.

His point was that there is no point in getting FTA satellite for Champions League as ITV lose the rights at the end of this season.
Could very well see ITV going big for other sports though .. That Carl Frampton fight coming up might signal a re-emergence of ITV Boxing.

To take this back to UTV, the Frampton v Avalos fight will air on UTV Ireland:

Big fight for UTVI .. I would assume any new sports rights ITV pick up in the absence CL, F1, FA Cup etc. will be picked up by UTVI.

As this is a different market no such assumption should be made.

I'm sure UTV Ireland would go for the same rights though.
