I have just seen an article in the local press which gives a list of towns and villages in Donegal which will receive an upgrade to "fast broadband" - one of these is Gleneely.  Gleneely does not even have access to basic broadband at the moment so is this for real?  There are two Gleneelys in Donegal one is near Killygordon the other one is in Inishowen.  Which one is it?  The same article also lists which towns already have access to Eircom/EFibre broadband and one of those listed is Culdaff.  Not true.  Culdaff, like Gleneely in Inishowen, does not have access to any kind of broadband on its telephone exchange but it is not on the list for potential upgrade to "Fast broadband" so has it been missed out altogether?   What's the actual truth of the matter here?

    Hi CelticTigress

Just looking at this. Would you have a link to the article by any chance? This may be in relation to the Government announced National Broadband plan that was announced earlier this year?

    thanks

    Hi celtictigress

Just looking at this. As this is not an Eircom generated document I cannot comment on the article. I do note it refers to a mix of different Broadband providers and not just Eircom though.

    thanks

what it means is that it will happen when it happens if it happens, the centre of donegal town (ie businesses) cant get e-fibre but all the cabinets round the town can mainly as its too expensive for eircom to sort the exchange for 3rd party access.

We have fibre outside the door but no ones connected in to it its been there for 10 years.

i take articles like that as pure and simple electioneering very little fact normally involved.
