Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We can consider ourselves bloody lucky to be going in at half time with the game still 0-0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,408 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

We can thank our lucky stars we're not at least one down.

Let's hope the team come out calmer and more organised in the second half

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

That scottish backline is there for the taking, but we are playing into their hands with these tactics.

Struggling with this high press by the scots.

Walters is having a great game. Really showing well for the ball and constantly winning his headers.

He's very clever when it comes to winning free's and holding up the ball.

Is it just me or does Ward just hoof it up the line every single time he gets the ball?

Frantic half of football, pressure mounts on the Scots though

    Scotland have it won

Not impressed by that first half performance. Ireland lucky to be level. Same story as it'll be against all the group rivals. Scrappy, outplayed, squandered the couple of half chances they did have. I think at this point the Scots will be well within their rights to fancy this one, it has to be said.

Take that score line at ht.
Started positively but Scotland have dominated since the 25 minute mark.

Walters by far our best player. Occasion seems to be getting to mcgeady a bit. McLean putting in a good shift down the left to protect ward.

And if we have another corner, put the ball in the box please

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,481 ✭✭✭Barely There

Fast, frantic, lacking in quality, but exciting.

    Much as expected.

Better chances for the Scotch, but I think our surperior quality will tell in the 2nd half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

For me McLean has been about the only player showing a bit of composure and looking to play a pass. It's been headless from everyone else.

It feels like watching a Super Sunday on a cold windy day in November between Stoke and West Ham

Is it just me or does Ward just hoof it up the line every single time he gets the ball?

He's a definite weak link on this team. McLean is giving him a lot of protection to be fair but it means he's not getting forward much.

As long as he does that i'm happy.
Wouldn't trust him to try anything else.

    Scrappy game

Fletcher should leave the fancy stuff to the the likes of Ronaldo

Christ that was some let off

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

We have to get the ball on the ground and try and pass.

We need to address the issue of mcgeady and hendrick. Both players on a yellow could be costly and mcgeady isn't coping with the pressure.

=(:-) Me? I know who I am. I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude (-:)=

i'm shocked people are expecting a football masterclass :pac:. It was always going to be a tough old watch, a lot of passion but not much else.

Nice one Ray. Any chance Ireland could cash out on the draw now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,408 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

The center of midfield is not at the races tonight. We need changes.

Yeah Hendrick and Gibson have been disappointing. Not getting on the ball at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,456 ✭✭✭wonga77

We started off well but have got a little lost. Mcgeady needs to do the simple things right and try his hardest to blot out the crowd

He's not even related to a footballer. Robbie Keane left back would be a better option

Long ball fun...I still have a feeling we will nick it late on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Mulgrew has the freedom of the park for Scotland hes building a lot of attacks.

We need another midfielder inside or Long or Walters have to drop off and be an extra man when we dont have it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Hendrick and Gibson have been useless tbh

Germany 3-0 up, Serbia 1-0 up on Denmark. All others are scoreless. Even the Fairies are holding out v Greece. PP have locked down all betting on the Germany game:mad:

Hendrick and Long aren't far off being subbed.

Where is the ref from ?
It's a very hard game to referee

    Serbian ref

Our weakness in central midfield is costing us this game, we're struggling to control the ball and can't string 2 passes together.

You heard right, Dunphy just called him Enya.

Someone needs to dig out a thesaurus for the rte panel and look up 'frantic' for them.

Scotland have had about 55% possession

To be fair, any ball coming from an Irish boot spent the whole half sailing over their heads

Felt like more to be honest.

Enya lacks the pace to lead a counter attack, but she has those big lemur eyes which might give her the vision to pick out quality passes.

In fairness it seems to me with the long balls it's policy to keep them out of the game.

I thought we had moved on from this way of playing so much.

They are clearly set up for a draw imo.

    The word 'dangerous' as well!
Dunphy has called everyone on the Scotland team dangerous at this stage :pac:

60/40 for the first half but definitely felt like more

Because they aren't looking for the ball, they need to get in positions to receive it

    60% according to BBC

    Sail away, Dunphy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Scotland moving and passing the ball quickly. Ireland a bit long ballish in that half.
