Sealed diesel filter on vw polo

hi any instructions i read on changing a diesel filter says to fill up the new filter to prevent air lock. what should one do when the filter is seale as is my case in a 08 vw polo. i presume i can't fill it up but what steps do i take instead of this. thanks.//

is it a 1.4 diesel?

it isn't sealed, you can fill it through the top where the hoses connect.

ya its a 1.4 would that be possible the hole is tiny. is that what they would do in a garage.
