Hi,

I'm currently having nothing but problems for the last week of pings of 2000 to everything, 4000 if US etc..

Look at my pings to eircoms website itself:

Can someone please help out?

Thanks,

Hi GavoTrav

Yes the trace routes do show something's amiss, sorry to see this. Feel free to PM me your eircom account number or land line number & I'll look in to this for you.

Thanks
Al

PM Sent. Its been like this for about 5 days now.

Tried Default Eircom DNS servers, Tried Google's ones but no change.

Also reset router back to factory settings and still nothing. Its definitely something up with the exchange or the line to my house.

Cannot even do a speedtest via the website now have to do it in a python script:
C:\Users\Gavin\Desktop>python speedtest_cli.py
Retrieving speedtest.net configuration...
Retrieving speedtest.net server list...
Testing from Eircom (86.xxx.xxx.xxx)...
Selecting best server based on latency...
Hosted by Digiweb (Dublin) [31.86 km]: 449.342 ms
Testing download speed........................................
Download: 0.44 Mbits/s
Testing upload speed..................................................
Upload: 0.29 Mbits/s

Yes got that thanks GavoTrav

I see that a case is currently with engineers and it's actually been assigned to a crew today.

Further to that I've run a few tests on your line and although I've not noticed any line faults engineers will be able to look in to his much further than I.

You'll be contacted upon completion of the engineers investigations which should be in the next 24 hours.

Thanks
Al

Okay yeah, I'm noticing the difference now at a steady 60-80 ping rather than jumping to 3000

Thanks for the help :)

Scratch that still broken after like 5 mins of using it.

Had a guy here from eircom did all the tests said everything looked fine and explained to me its 100% congestion and it lines up with the times for congestion and the only thing that is going to fix it is efiber.

He taught maybe it would be in by the end of the month as it says on eircom wholesale.

As I was walking up to meet this guy to let him in my house I met someone from KN Networks who I asked about a date for it being finished as he was working at the cabinet said Not likely in the next few months...

Who can give me a straight answer?

I am paying 60 a month for this and not getting what I am paying for. I need some sort of compensation for this.

Are the ping times OK late at night, say 1am or so?

gets better around 3:30 am

Which is pretty useless to me.

One of the NGB packages guarantees no congestion to the first hop in the terms and conditions. If you're on the old packages there's nothing they`ll do for you, which is kinda ridiculous. You could look into changing to vodafone or something maybe? Ask your neighbours and see if they have the same problems with different providers

My neighbour is on vodafone with the same problems, same lines sure. He literally told me it won't be fixed until eFiber is finished here. which all the cabs are there its just not done.

And he did tests which told him I was getting 7MB and I did a test on my phone to show him the 0.99 mb / 0.14mb at around 3PM which is when it starts to get bad.

Vodafone also tried to get me to change over and looking at there terms if you go over 300gb they charge you a lot. So thats not for me. 300GB on all "Unlimited plans".

But yeah 100% sure its congestion. Its been like this almost a year now. He told me there's 5000 people in my area on it and they are all having the same problems. He said the old infrastructure can't handle it.

Any idea Alan? My service seems to be worse since yesterday cutting out like mad, getting lots of packet loss.
He tested it and told me it was fine just congestion. Can you try get me a date for eFibre here?

Hi GavoTrav

I see that the fault reference number has been updates with notes that a fault does not exist with the line.

Congestion will be expected as the exchange your line is connected to is connected to an exchange which has not yet been upgraded to next generation broadband (NGN).

As Your issues are relatively recent it may be in relation to the routing issues as reported here: http://bit.ly/1xBWACW but ultimately we will not know for sure until theses issues are resolved.

Thanks
Al

Why is the broadband package I'm on called "Eircom UnCongested broadband"

"We have great uncongested broadband with speeds up to 24Mb and we'll upgrade you for FREE when eFibre comes to your area"

As I say, I'm paying 60 a month for this. Is there anyone I can get in touch with to get some sort of compensation or relief on the payments until this is fixed? Once Its fixed I'm happy to pay that but I'm not getting the service I'm paying for now.

As Your issues are relatively recent it may be in relation to the routing issues as reported here: <snip> but ultimately we will not know for sure until theses issues are resolved.

Thanks
Al

Hi GavoTrav

I believe I've identified an issue - would you be able to PM me a contact number for you and I'll call you?

Thanks

My area is scheduled to get Eircom Fibre April or June 2015 ( i live in a village near Askeaton co limerick) so i can live with the slow speeds till then, it usually only lasts a few hours at night anyway.

Curious enough i have seen lot of ESB vans around my area too, with white vans with them. No faults in the area, curious to what they are at especially in light of ESB looking to bring fibre out? Never seen these white vans before, could be nothing though.

Theres 4 Vans around the corner cutting down trees around all the lines and on the side it says contracted by ESB. I'm assuming its for something like that.

There was 4 vans maybe 5 can't remember the number. Two were ESB the other two i remember were white transit vans. They weren't cutting trees they were doing a survey or something and carrying tools around them. I just found it curious because we have no faults with electricity and they were around here for most of the day.

Thanks alan for all the help!

Upgraded to 15MB For now as I was told eFiber is not available and may not be available for a good few months in my area.
