I'd say Northern Ireland might be your best bet there. What type is it and where in the country are you?

Surely there someone in the South that knows their way round air rifles without having to go through all that paperwork?

Not a lot of paperwork problem being is an air rifle is a bit more specialised than a shotgun and some lads might chance it but if the OP wants someone who knows their way a top end air rifle he might have to go up north where they are more common and have been for years

It will depend on the type of air rifle and what he wants done to it

I've been tuning and tweaking air rifles (spring piston) for over 20 years. I have 7 of mine at the moment all running beautifully! Would love to work on other airguns for people but I'm not an RFD or qualified gunsmith, so no insurance to cover my work.

It's just a very basic Diana 26D break barrel. My main reason for spending a modest amount on it is to keep feral pigeons under control in an acquaintance of mine's grain store and take the odd close range rabbit.

So far I've only done a bit of pellet testing and grouping with it but feel that giving the workings a bit of an overhaul may do it some good. I'm about 15 mins drive west from Navan.

    Tannyoky is your best bet.

I went through this two years ago and after ringing around everywhere they were the only shop willing to look at it.

You might drive up there but technically they are entitled to ask for an export licence to give it back to you. Hopefully Tannokey will use a little common sense but I'd ask them first.I would use personal transport only - there are a lot of reports on the www.airgunbbs.com of gun parts including cylinders for pcps being seized by Royal Mail and sent to Belfast for destruction.

Give gavin a ring before you go up. If you have the gun on your euro pass he can arrange a NI visitors pass for you. It costs 12 stg per year and you can take the rifle over and back across the border all you want. You can also buy ammo on it although I don't think pellets require a licence in NI so you could buy them over the counter I'm not exactly sure but you can find out when you ring.

You may require an import permit from DOJ to take ammo back but iv never heard of it nor been asked for one.
