Wexford Town's nice enough, some good restaurants. The Irish National Heritage Park and Johnstown Castle are nearby. What sort of things do they do in other locations?

They spend 7-8 hours in most spots and generally do 2 or 3 activities/tours of some sort.

Besides the views on the train, what's there to see in Wexford/Rosslare and will they overnight it in Dublin?

Johnstown Castle http://www.irishagrimuseum.ie/johnstown-castle-gardens/ is close to Wexford Town; as is Kilmokea House & Gardens http://www.kilmokea.com and the beach at Ballinesker where the opening scenes of "Saving Private Ryan" were shot - sorry! :D

There's also lashings of hotel rooms and pubs - although they will have to be bussed to Enniscorthy to find the best ones.

With the situation with bus eireann possibly spreading into Irish rail, how could this impact on this service ?

Whatever about contagion from the BE dispute which is very likely, IE's own industrial relations problems are coming anyway - big time. Belmond will be bunched as will other customers such as the few surviving freight flows. Bad times ahead.

Belmond is to operate to/from Gorey on a Saturday and not Wexford as originally thought, overnight stay will be in Gorey. The rest of the itinerary is the same as last year with a few timing adjustments.

It omits the Slaney valley, but visits Dublin Bay, Killiney Bay, Bray Head, the Wicklow coast and mountains, Avoca and Woodenbridge.

    A good improvement.

Trial run Inchicore-Gorey-Inchicore planned to run this Saturday, timings not yet set.

201s are now cleared to operate normally between Arklow-Gorey and train weights on the Rosslare line will be increased to accomodate the Belmond.

Going to greystones and back seems senseless. Maybe it's to do with clearing the line and the passengers don't have to be on it.

Not at all, they will see more scenery from the train that day, than all the rest of the week.

I think the point is they'll see it 4 times as the train is going to Gorey, back to Greystones, back to Gorey again and then back to Dublin. Surprised they're not going to Wexford, more to see there than in Gorey.

They will certainly have plenty of opportunity to see Irish graffiti close-up and at its worst - even on the cliff sections at Killiney and between Bray and Greystones.

No issues, 06.30 first service out of Carlow to Dublin, 06.00 out of Waterford always uses P1 while the 07.10 gets looped as a result of BGH. It departs at 08.00 before the 07.25/07.50 cross at there at 08.45.

Stabling has to be on a platform in case the train requires evacuation overnight.

The rules were amended to allow a train with a "Q" train ID (a sleeper train) to be stabled on a running line.

    Morning folks,

    Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th April 2017:
Photos from this weekend include images of the Belmond Grand Hibernian going down the Dublin & South Eastern Railway line as far as Gorey, where it stabled on Saturday night. The normal Saturday route to Belfast wasn't available due to engineering works. To start off the weekend I dropped into Rosskelton to see the ballast cleaning works ongoing.

    10:05Connolly to Waterford

Bit of a boo boo with this one yesterday, 081 was rostered to work the 08:20 from Dundalk with 216 due to follow LE and work the 10:05, a bit of confusion in Dundalk Saturday evening saw 216 and 081 swap places which resulted in 081 incorrectly working the 10:05 to Waterford.

Waterford yard was a great site yesterday with the:
    *Weed Spray
    *Belomond
    *Timber
    *ICR's
    *071's
    *RPSI stock

All was missing was the DFDS's CPW's most likely left in Belview.

they must have hauled that amount in their lifetime surely? if not on services then specials at least?

ticking a box on a form does not make you of a religion.

I suspect from a braking prospective regulations may not allow 071 do it.

The 10 coaches don't fit fully on any platform on the network, so not a problem. Belfast, Heuston, Connoly, Cork, Galway and Waterford in that order are probally the best platforms.

071s and 2x141s have hauled 13 piece Mk2 specials in the past no problem. I suspect the Mk3 coach limit on the 071s is due to their air compressors and brake performance, I believe it takes a while for 071s to build brake pressure on long airbrake rakes.
