So bought this 3 CD Bowie compilation and was just importing to iTunes and it imports CD 1 & 3 in under the one compilation, but it treats the second cd as a separate album with the same name, any idea how to get it to get it to import the cd correctly?

Check if the album artist is listed the same as the other albums

Select all 3 albums and right click and select get info, under album artist type David Bowie, it should then put all 3 under one name. more than likely CD 2 probably has a David Bowie featuring another artist and that's why its been put separate

Going to try this tip on a load of albums that iTunes inexplicably (to me) splits. Found an old compilation album recently that I had never ripped and put EACH track (all 16 of them) into separate albums!!

Nah didn't work still treated CD 2 as a separate Album even renaming the artist on the tracks with Queen and Mick Jagger to just David Bowie and it still won't pick it up as part of the same compilation.

You need to check the fields in each song of that CD. Guarantee something in there is different, it could be the album name, artist, album artist etc

Sounds like you changed the Artist field for all the songs and not the Album Artist field. Select all the songs and update the album name and album artist to make sure they are the same.
