This says 'disciplined' i.e. internal punishment, and I can see no assault. What you've written suggests the man had a heart attack after they seized his car for whatever reason. The articles would be great.

In example one the man with the bad heart as threatened with pepper spray as well as spoken to aggresively and left in a serious condition.

In example 2 a bus driver was clearly assaulted.

About Wednesday, will there be many from this thread attending?

I have a day off for it, despite the business I'm in being traditionally mental busy at this time of year.

I'll head in early, Grab a coffee, bite of brunch, then head over towards the Dail.

Maybe treat myself to a few drinks and a dinner afterwards. (thus contributing to local businesses with my cash, and helping the economy)

I'm looking forward to it :D

I cant but will be there in spirit.
Fair play to everyone attending too.

It'll probably have to be a lunchtime affair for me. Work is nuts for me in the run up to Christmas.

Slightly off topic but I just saw this picture of the woman who wants to bring in water charges....looking down the end of a massive joint. Explains a few of her comments anyway :D

In relation to IW I've made my grievances known here. I support the introduction of water charges at my parents expense and was vehemently against the recent step down by the Gov.

I probably would check the demonstration out on Wednesday if I didn't have an exam...:(

Russell Brand put up a new video about IW. I know he's very much hit and miss with people but there's a lot of sense being spoken in the video.

Same way we are boycotting the charge. Who'd have thought we'd have something in common ;)

What about all the people who can't be arsed voting in pointless online polls?

I will be there Wednesday; booked time off work; I'll be working a full weekend next weekend to make up for hours off; meant to be over 10 busses from my town/ county travelling to Dublin.

They must be no voters who know how meaningless such a pole is. If you were to believe it, it would suggest there will be a million people at it.

You could actually learn a lot by going even if you have no issue with water usage charges but do have an issue with new wasteful quangos. I felt proud and empowered after the first one.

At this point, given the massive government climbdown thus far, I don't think the size of the crowd is all that important. In many ways, protesters have won but keeping the pressure on shows who really runs this country for once.

Yourself, Maryanne, little CuChulainn, barely there, DX etc should come along to be 'reprogrammed' tbh.

Oh, and bring madcon with ye too. :D

The poll actually suggests that out of the 12,383 people that took it 4,336 people would be going. 4,024 won't be going but support the march and 3,845 won't be going. Pulling up the end are the don't knows who come in at 188.

Not sure where you are pulling a million out of, care to indulge me?

    So further update.

IMPACT having nothing to with Right2Water Ireland, only Right2Water ECI
SIPTU advising people to protest due to failed talks with Irish Water over bonus payments.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/business/irish-water-management-and-siptu-to-have-further-talks-on-bonus-payments-1.2007657

Although internally, seems there is some division within SIPTU itself.

Right2Water ECI have come back to me and said they have zero to do with Right2Water (Ireland), they just took the name without any consultation. They are looking further into the matter as they have some problems with this.

Right2Water is run by Mandate Trade Union (Not Advertised)

    Supporters:
    • Unite the Union (Republic of Ireland)
    • The CPSU,
    • Opatsi,
    • CWU Ireland,
    • Sinn Féin Ireland,
    • People Before Profit,
    • Anti Austerity Alliance,
    • The Workers' Party of Ireland,
    • Clare Daly,
    • Spectacle Defiance,
    • Communist Party of Ireland,
    • the Workers and Unemployed Action Group,
    • Seamus Healy TD,
    • We're Not Leaving

Looks to me like the Organisers and supported have some vested interests beyond Water Charges.

Right2Water Ireland have not answered any communication thus far.

Should be interesting on Wednesday I'd say.

Less vested interest than Denis O'Brien on the other side one might argue. :D

    Speak of the devil.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/public-value-test-to-be-introduced-for-media-ownership-1.2029298

    O’Brien concerns
The National Union of Journalists and others have raised concerns about the levels of media ownership of billionaire businessman Denis O’Brien.
Mr O’Brien is the biggest shareholder in Independent News and Media (INM), with a 29.9 per cent stake, but he has been deemed by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland not to control INM.
Mr O’Brien also owns Communicorp, the radio group that includes Today FM and Newstalk.
Newstalk also supplies news to some 20 local stations around the country.
The draft guidelines set out how a media merger will be assessed. While a range of submissions is expected, sources said the document to be published today reflects Mr White’s approach.
The new “public value test” is described as the most important element. It involves “a more thorough definition of media concentration than before” and deals specifically with cross media ownership.
“It is undesirable,” it says “to allow any one media business or individual to hold excessive significant interests within a sector or particularly across different sectors of media businesses in the State.”

Government to bring in procedures to stop undesirables running media empires from todays irish times.

I'd be more concerned about his level of ownership in Fine Gael than the media to be honest, but its a start i guess.

It must be wonderful to have enforced income via tv licence taxes to pay these outrageous salaries.
"He will be one of the highest paid broadcasters at the station with sources saying he could top Ryan Tubridy's current salary of €495,000.
"It would take something in the region of €500,000 to get Ray to leave the commercial sector," a radio source told the Irish Independent"

Will these idiots stop taken food out of my kids mouth for this kind of crap.
