Ah, here. We'll just have to get out and protest about that.

Come out and join the crowd on December 10th :)

One way or another we will be paying the correct price.

And do you have a number in mind as to the correct cost of keeping our infrastructure, would you be willing to pay 800-1000 euro and be fine with that in a couple of years.

id be really interested actually in the pro sides cut off point as regards payment for the infrastructure, in othewords what the magic number that you turn around and say enough is enough I cant pay this bill, has anyone actually thought about it. Or will you just continue to pay irregardless of how much its ratcheted up by.

    Genuine question?

In terms of perception the government have appeared utterly cowardly in both their setup of Irish Water and their subsequent climbdowns in the face of protests.

They were cowardly in stuffing the new quango with legions of underutilised bureaucrats from local authorities and endemically overpaid and under-qualified staff (e.g Hubert Kearns). They were cowardly in expecting the taxpayer to front up the costs for the qaungo while at the same time determining operation policy on the fly and backing it up with a less than brutal customer service. And of course they had a puppet CEO (with a less than impressive track record) who seemed to accept political interference willingly.

It is a testament to the protesters but again the government appear cowardly in the successive climbdowns over the past few weeks. They are pushing out timelines, reducing yet to be published charges, adding overcomplicated tax relief, adding non-privatisation clauses (finally), setting up an inquiry (Jesus wept) on the IW guaranteed bonus scheme, removing PPS requirement etc etc etc. At the same time there is very little talk about fixing those all important leaks (40%?).

Be under no illusions, this is an exceptionally weak government with very weak leadership. I don't see them lasting until Summer 2015. Cowardly & inept but at least the arrogance is gone now.

It is very clear that they are on the backfoot, and desperation is setting in.

Not sure if the arrogance or the contempt has evaporated, after Kenny' s remarks this morning.

They did not choose to climbdown, they were compelled to by the majority of the electorate.

They are clearly on the ropes, and are dangling carrots, hoping the gob****es will bite.

Nice snark. Do you think it's fair? Or do you not care about fairness?

The issue for FG is they have a lot of new TDs. The primary objective of all new TDs is to secure their seat. Many feel they will be one hit wonders unless they act now. I have heard from my sources that the FG parliamentary party meetings are very lively now.

Leap frogging on a bigger issue? Good tactic to boost the numbers now that people are pulling out due to protester violence and government concessions.

What majority? All I see out protesting is a few reasonable people supported by commies, parasitic trade unionists and lazy lay abouts that contribute nothing to this country.

Really scraping the bottom of society with the no campaign

What evidence do you have to justify your contempt for activists?

With all this chat about folk hoping all the concessions will be enough to quell the public's anger, and reduce the protests are living in fantasy land.

All the Govt have did in reveal more and more clinks in their armour.

They're on the backfoot now, their cannot be any let up.

Anyone up for a few jars after a protest on Dec 10th btw ;)?

What IS fair that everyone pays for what THEY use.

Reduce motor tax and VAT which went up to pay for water over the years and then we'll call it even.

Agree'd i dont believe FG will survive this.

Even George Hook was airing his disillusioned view on kenny and his revised charges today calling kenny and FG wimps (Denis must not be happy)

Live line dedicated their show to crushing the charge also today by airing the views of people that just cant afford it.

and now this story emerging,The people are winning and the media propaganda isnt working.

The date was chosen long before what happened in Jobstown & with Endas poor car. Water is a human right hence having it on that day, it really sounds like you're clutching at straws now to be fair.

no "commies" at all, and trade unionists aren't parasitic but great men and women standing up for their unions members.

ticking a box on a form does not make you of a religion.

Can't understand why IW isn't scrapped yet like what are FG/LAB gaining here.
Hardly be pro water marches if its thrown to the bin.
Labour will keep some form of TDs, Enda would get some trust back.

Is it the case that so much money has been pumped into this or just a political stance?

Shenanigans. No Garda would come out with this.
I know I’m not the only one who feels like this in the force, and if this
continues, we know we will have to decide if we’re on the side of the State or the side of the people. Sunday changed everything.

Those new concessions are merely a bribe to get people to sign up for the water charges.
And once they got ya - the bribe will only be a temporary measure.

They will eventually move the goalposts - and, you might as well bend over already - cos you
gonna get screwed anyway then. A "fixed charge" will eventually become a "metered charge",
    for example.

You couldn't make this stuff up.
Despite what the people are telling them - they continue to push on - to bring this sh1t in - in
    some shape or form.

This is not a Democracy - it is becoming a "benign" Dictatorship.

The Politicians and the Civil Service do not serve the people of Oireland ; only the
Bankers, the Bond Holders, the ECB and the IMF.
