Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Parking Bay Requirements

Does anyone know are there specific guidelines parking bays should adhere to in order for parking offence penalties to be enforceable?

I remember seeing a UK based website where there were hundreds of successful appeals because the state of the parking area (badly painted lines, no sign at the beginning and end of each individual bay etc).

I'm just wondering if there is similar for Ireland and anywhere to check the guidelines as to what may be feasible in terms of an appeal?

    Any feedback appreciated :)

Have a look at the Traffic Signs Manual chapters 5 & 7.

There are no requirements only guidelines. parking byelaws are usually described as a distance from point a to point b , not by parking bays as such.

can you let us know what you are trying to prove and i might be able to help you.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I went through the documentation and found this:

So does "where appropriate" with regards curb side mounted signs mean they don't always need to be erected?

If you received a ticket parked in a bay like the bottom one, that didn't have curb mounted signs on either side, would there be any recourse? :pac:

Well If there were not any signs, how would you know the times that parking was allowed etc?

If there was also a single yellow line in the bays then there should be a sign indicating the times when parking is allowed. Likewise, if there was a clearway sign on the kerb nearby then that may determine when parking is prohibited.

Thanks for the replies. There's no signs around the bay I was in, but there is signs beside other bays, which are beside the bay I was in. I'm really just chancing my arm here, just a bit bitter that I've been putting visitor permits on my van the last 2/3 weeks every day and just forgot last night and woke up to a ticket. I don't qualify for a full permit which is also annoying me as there doesn't seem to be any other options for me to park that I know if right now.
