Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The game nobody cares much about really, but a few of us will still watch it.

Irish team: Given, Christie, Pearce, Clark, Meyler (c), Quinn, Brady, Pilkington, Murphy, McGoldrick, Stokes.

Usa: Hamid; F. Johnson, Cameron, Besler, Chandler; Beckerman; Bedoya, Diskerud, Morales; Wondolowski, Altidore (c)

Strange team, not sure how we will line up but the middle of theark will be fairly weak. Quinn is not a centre midfielder he is a winger IMO.

Martin seemed happy someone other that Tony was asking him pre game questions.

Not impressed at all with Given starting. Elliot or Randolph should be playing instead. Future is not in a 38 yo reserve no matter how great he was for us.

Looks like a 4-3-3 of sorts

    It is a 4-4-2.

    Given
    Christie-Pearce-Clark-Brady
    Pilkington-Meyler-Quinn-Stokes
    McGoldrick-Murphy

Very disappointed to see Given there, I have no idea why he is our number 2 goalie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,950 ✭✭✭Pinturicchio

    My guess:

    Given
    Christie Pearce Clark Brady
    Pilkington Meyler Quinn Stokes
    Murphy McGoldrick

    Or else:

    Given
    Meyler Pearce Clark Christie
    Pilkington Brady Quinn Stokes
    Murphy McGoldrick

Randolph or Elliot should really be starting in goal.

Why are they persisting with Daryl Murphy? Not up to this level.

Why not pick Cillian Sheridan in the squad. At least he's playing in the Champions League...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Crazy that Given & Murphy start. Given a great servant but past it. Only reason for Murphy I can think is that McGoldrick & him work well together for Ipswich.

USA are just under 2/1 for this, pretty good odds imho

In a completely pointless meaningless game I would hope nobody would give much of a toss what team gets put out, just like tonight.

    Who gives a **** like?

Poor old O Neill out of his depth here

He wouldn't. It omits Cox, Green and Sammon...

I suppose just like the rugby last weekend its about ranking points.
No matter how important the game is, always better to be winning them than losing them.

Given has kicked ball away twice already. Lack of match time of course a reason. Could cost us.

    Roy Keane probably distracted it.

I'm sorry I didn't catch that? Read the part where you said Roy Keane but got distracted then and couldn't focus on the rest

While things were quiet at Lansdowne Road, flicked over to the Eng Sco game, hadn't started but noticed that instead of the minutes silence we had, they did minutes applause.

Anyone know why Sky are showing the England game on Sky Sports 1 & 5?

Would have loved them to have shown the Spain Germany game.

They have had 2 banners confiscated before the game. The South Stand is covered with stewards to stop any protests (Probably to chuck people out too)
