    Hi,
am having connectivity problem with my pc as its upstairs from my router.
I would like to set up my old router - Linksys wag354g as a secondary router. I want to set it up in bridge mode but am having difficulties.

My primary router is a Zyxel f1000 set up with eircoms default settings eg ip 192.168.1.254

Encapsulation :: rfc 1483 bridged - I also have the option of bridged only
My PC ip address is 192.168.1.8 - have set this for internet ip address.
    subnet mask 255 255 255 0
gateway 192.168.1.254 (ip of primary router)
I took primary and second dns server ip's from the primary router (zyxel) settings

I have also changed the secondary routers ssid to match primary,

What firmware? The default Linksys firmware won't do wireless client bridge, you'll need to flash a better firmware like DD-Wrt to give this, if it supports it.
Are you sure bridge is what you're looking for, a bridge would connect wirelessly to your existing wireless and connect to your pc by cable. That is the opposite of an access point which would connect by cable to your existing router and your pc would connect wirelessly.

Edit: just checked and what you have is a Linksys ADSL modem, it does not support DD-WRT.

Yeah dd-wrt doesen't support my router.
This router has the option of setting it to 'rfc 1483 bridged' or 'bridged only'.

Yes, if possible i would like to have it connected by cable to the pc and wirelessly connect to existing router
