He's under no obligation to use two. He was close to catching it with one hand anyway. Not even close to being a penalty.

He was in his arse close to catching that, it was a palm down, nothing less

We were 17 nil up at one stage, had we a similar lead v All Blacks last year and managed to lose it:(

Looked to me like he tried to grasp it, not slap it

Half time couldnt come soon enough imo, Joe will have to come up with something to try and keep Oz' backs quiet or else they will kill us off with a few tries.

Different game, different mindset, with minutes to go it's Australia not NZ. I still think we'll do it

The game is being played at the helter skelter pace Australia want and really we are assisting them in playing in that way. The penalty to make it 20-20 was important but I think the chance is gone here. We need to change approach to try and get some momentum back.

Shocking refereeing. How do these people get into these positions when they are so clueless?

ahhh stop he batted it there was no cushion given by his hand he was just throwing his hand up to stop that ball getting there

Must've got the Tmo from the international rules match.

40 points in 40 min, must be a good one for the neutral. Hopefully with the wind on our backs we'll kick them around the park.

I will say this though, Australia are edging it for me because they're defending so well. It's like a wall. Their tackles are sticking, ours don't.

So the try wasnt forward. Time to stop complaining.

By being close do you mean touching the ball because that's all he did.

Very disappoining performance in the last 20 of the half. D'arcy playing like a drain, everyone missing tackles and Sexton not making his kicks contestable.

nope still dont think he touched it down behind the line

He got fast tracked, from novice to pro in less than a year is my understanding.

The line was drawn from the back of the ruck. That's not where the pass was made from. It was forward.

Edit: **** it whatever. Whatever about the pass it wasn't grounded. I need a stiff drink.

Great analysis by rte with the parallel lines.. Shows how deceptive camera angles and depth perception can be.

Well done by the tmo too.

Of course he's trying to stop it getting there. That doesn't mean he's not trying to catch it at the same time. Well within his rights to attempt that.

Folau batted the ball away, that was all, he wasn't close to catching it ,

But he didn't ground it on/behind the line

It isnt clear if he touched the line or not. The question asked was 'is there any reason I cannot award the try?' When it wasnt clear that it wasnt a try he has to give it.

The way the penalty try came from Australia via the TMO must have hit Ireland mentally in the head which did affect them in the last 15 minutes of the 1st half.

All Schmidt needs to do now is get that half out of their head and start again to give them the confidence and the drive to win it.

Must say I thought it was forward but that clip at ht proves the ref was spot on. Great call by Jackson

On review ruddocks tackle on foley for that "try" was absolutely shocking.

I look, forward to a game where players off their feet at rucks at properly pinged ... Some day ... Some day.

    Trevor Horgan agrees you! ;-)

The line drawn on the TV wasn't where the pass was thrown from at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,392 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Ireland have attacked very poorly with the ball in hand too. Need a better structure to it.

Hence why forward passes aren't judged in League. That looked obviously forward but wasn't, imagine it for one that looks a bit forward by a player at pace and momentum coming into it.

Hit the deck and edged it forward, allowed to do that.

    Wake up Zeebs.

Zebo's a liability for parts of a match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Missed a chance to attack the line there missed by sexton.

Don't like the idea of Beale coming into this high tempo game.

That was the clearest scrum penalty you'll see, the prop was bound on Mike Ross' chest ffs.

Ireland scrum has been under a little bit of pressure at times.

Didn't look like he did though

(which is probably why I'm not a rugby referee :D)

Hey look guys. He caught that forward pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,477 ✭✭✭✭phog

Some lapses of concentration in the Irish camp, Zebo not catching the pass from Kearney, Ruddock missing a tackle in their 22, then Murray kicks out in the full.

    Need to wake up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,799 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

The ****ing loosie is pulling Ross down by the ****ing chest!!!
