Getting ridiculous at this stage now, and as for that PSO Levy and been charged VAT on it, nice sting in the tail that is![/quote]
Yet another price hike ! not even a year has passed since this PSO PRICE HIKE. October 2014. PSO Price per month with vat NOW € 6.08. Take this price x 12 = € 73.00. PER YEAR, per house hold. The €73.00 makes it more than the quoted water charge of € 60.00 for a single person house hold ! How come were not marching about this blatant PSO robbery?? If the maths are done on these figures, some one in the country is pocketing over € 100,million.

    Hi all,

Details of the PSO (government) levy can be found here on our website.

As per Tharmor's post above, Electric Ireland has brought in a unit price decrease of 2% (effective since 17th November).

    Regards,
    Una

Is it true that the energy regulator has approved an increase in the cost of electricty supply from January 2015?

    Hi muffler,

    Thanks for your post.

The PSO Levy, set by the CER, did increase in October 2014 for all electricity customers, as per Una's link posted above. We do not have further information regarding any proposed changes to this charge.

If there's anything else we can help with don't hesitate to ask.

    Regards,
    David

    Thanks for clarifying that David.

It was something the missus heard mentioned on the local radio station but obviously picked it up wrong as it was most likely the PSO levy that was mentioned.

    No problem muffler.

If there are any proposed changes to the PSO Levy, it will be publicly announced well in advance.

    Thanks,
    David

The increase I detailed in my post was a definitive price hike. It was detailed in my bill received November for the period of October when it was increased.  Maybe I posted in the wrong forum to get some debate on the reasoning for such levy's on customers.

    Hi Morgan The Moon,

The PSO Levy did indeed increase as of October 2014. We just wished to clarify that this levy, determined by the Commission for Energy Regulation, is not specific to any single electricity supplier, and insofar as our own prices are concerned, we in fact reduced ours by an average of 2.5% as of Nov 17th 2014.

The factors that led to the rise in the PSO Levy are well explained by this bonkers.ie blog.

    Hope the above helps.

    Regards,
    David
