    Hi,
    I am making a small table lamp and want to build in a small dimmer to be able to dim a 40w bulb.

    Can anyone tell me what type I need or where to get one?
    Looking for something small and unobtrusive, preferably with just a retro style knob showing.

    You can get an in line dimmer switch on line

    Thanks, but I am after a knob type I can mount in the base

    Buy the standard switch and remove the white face plate and see will the switch fit in the base.
