My neighbour was in Disney in Florida recently and said they had one of these temp shops setup that sold only Frozen themed stuff. It was ridiculous she said, the stuff was coming off the shelves faster than it went up, it was like the apocalypse the way people were grabbing them.

The poster who said Disney are marketing genius' is correct to an extent, but they weren't with Frozen. This isn't some cunning strategy to keep the toy in demand, Disney simply had no idea that Frozen was going to be a hit. None, and certainly not to the extent it is. The film had almost zero merchandise when it hit and it has taken them time to ramp up design and production to get the various dolls, t-shirts etc on the shelves. They lost a lot of money to unofficial Frozen merchandise at the start and there was a lot of agro in Burbank because of it.

The parks tell the same story. The first thing they could do was set up meet and greets (where kids get in line and take a picture with a college student in costume). This was there only Frozen offering (besides quickly printed clothing) for a few months. The demand was such that Disney had to abandon the tradition rope drop at opening for Disney World. Parents and kids were literally getting trampled in the run to get in line for that single Meet & Greet. Now they have to walk the rope up the park to stop a stampede.

They've also just shut a classic pavilion (Norway) in Epcot to make for a Frozen attraction. And it's a complete rush job and doesn't make sense where it's located. Temp shops are the now around that they've more tat to sell.

I use a basic rule when I buy toys for my four year old boy. I ask myself the question "Do I want it?" if the answer is yes it's bought if it's no then he doesn't get it :D

I am glad I have a 7 year old son and there is no frozen nonsense in this house.i had to put a bit of work into Santa this year as he wanted a snes.
I told him Santa mightn't have consoles from 20 years ago so he might bring him something else. So he doesn't know what he is getting.but Santa has the snes and mario all stars, way better than any frozen doll and fun for mammy too :)

Silly comment. I'm guessing you dont have kids. Kids, for whom you would do absolutely anything to make them happy on Christmas.

The people selling these dolls at over inflated prices are preying on this, plain and simple. These people are not paying these prices because they are idiots.

BTW, i'm not one of the people who are trying to get this doll before anyone jumps to that conclusion.

Nah, they are preying on idiots. The child probably won't notice it isnt there and if it is it will be forgotten quick enough. Would expect parents to know better after a few years.

I have seen frozen about 25 times now and the kids have all the soft toys. It's actually a great movie and kids just fall in love with it.

TBH the dolls aren't that expensive. If I know someone I'm buying for wants something, I get it the second I have the cash. So if you didn't get it before then you can't really blame anybody but yourself.

I had to pick up 3 and got them no problem a few weeks ago. Kids will change there mind anyway
