    Hi Folks,

Looking to replace a Sony KDL W4500 I bought from you back in 2008, whats the best you can do on a Samsung UE48H6500 delivered to Dublin. Powercity have it at 770 euro with a free WAM250 multi room router. Can you verify it has Saorview and Freeview HD capagility.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ed,

thanks for the post - that 4500 was a really nice TV - I had one myself until very recently :(  - we don't stock the 48H6500 - we do stock the 48H6400 though which is the model that has just won the What HiFi TV of the year award:
    http://www.whathifi.com/samsung/ue48h6400/review

We sell this at €729.99 ( although stocks are tight at the moment) and that price includes 5 year guarantee and delivery anywhere in Ireland - the UE48H6400 is of course Freeview HD and Saorview HD DVB-T2 on board.

If you wanted to replace your Sony with another Sony we also have the KDL50w705 - this loses some of the gadgets of the 48H6400 ( ie it doesn't have 3D or voice control) but the picture and audio quality are exceptional and it has the additional benefit of a satellite tuner built in. The 32" version ( which is only 200Hz) won the What HiFi award at 32" - the 50" version has Sony's 400Hz motion processing and really looks great - but it probably in terms of the audio quality that its significantly better than the Sammy..

it is slightly more expensive but is just getting a further reduction today to €834.99:

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

    Hi John,

thanks for prompt reply, wouldn't mind going for a Sony but would have to be the 8 series and they are substantially dearer , anyway the smart hub on the Samsung is the clincher. I  have done a fair bit of research on these sets and was particularly keen on the UE48H6500 as it has a neater bezel and twin tuners.

    Thanks,

    Ed

Beware of neat bezels - Generally means worse speakers ! Not sure if the speakers are any different in these two tbh.

The Sony would have to be the KDL50W829 which is a bit more expensive at £739 although it does come with the HTCT60 soundbar.

The 6500 is one that we have not gone for as demand for the second tuner is really low and most people are happy with the 6400.

The Sony would be my choice though as the picture is much easier on the eye and a lot more natural.

I love the detail in the Samsung but it can be nearly overly sharp.

    Hope that helps.
