What if someone's interested in those topics though? "Stay out of there" is a cop-out IMO.

I am interested in the subjects but it would be counter to what the forum rules allow and I'd find myself in big trouble if I posted what I thought in any of those forums.

I like heat in my house but I don't put my hand in the fire.

Oh this one is going back a while but iirc it was a factually true statement. A group of people, who happened to be muslim, had immigrated into the UK and were raping girls. The local area police were reluctant to deal with issues for some bizarre fear of it being regarded as racial profile. Even though it highly indicated that a culture of rapists, their religion doesn't matter here, happened to take up residence in a locale.

    Bb,
Please do not forget the statements you made in heated moments regarding jews and other things. We let an awful lot of stuff by you go too.

Look BB, hold off on doing anything rash - disregard the attacks you've read on this thread and i think you might find that the boards mods and Cmods and admins etc. are where i learned to mod from - they genuinely are decent people and do take feedback constructively.

I am not an authority on the actual issue and any contribution i add would be flawed by lack of knowledge on the subject, so i'll leave that to the people that do know.
However the demand in your post and 24 hour ultimatum of resolution might need to be presented less aggressively considering the nature of this specific forum on boards.ie.

You have every right to present evidence of a crime to the proper authorities and if you feel you should, you should.

Personally speaking, i've always thought you were a reasonable person and by that i mean willing to listen to reason as well as argue it.

So, i'll appeal to your reason - boards.ie wouldn't allow a crime of inciting hatred remain unchecked publicly on this site. The issue to me is a complex one due to it's wording and subject and the user may not have meant for it to sound as it may seem - give boards the benefit of the doubt and let them sort it out and get back to you on this thread. By giving them/us an ultimatum you're putting boards in a position where you account is at risk more than the actual issue is of being resolved.

Think it over anyway BB - would hate to see you gone

I'll tell you how it transpired. I reported the post, I think 2 days ago. Zilch. Yesterday I mailed the mods and cc'd Taltos to try and get a reason why nothing was done. At the very, very least it was a blatant personal attack against me based on the prejudiced assumption that I was a Muslim. If I had of called him a prick I would have been banned straight away but because he thinks I am a Muslim - AND ONLY FOR THIS REASON - he can equate me with ISIS, evil personified, he can say I am no better than a Murderer because of my assumed religion. THe **** is that about?

Now, normally I couldn't care less if anyone insults me but why this has struck a profound chord with me is that it gave me the tiniest window into what it must feel like to be a Muslim in the West. Where prejudice and bigotry is socially acceptable I would say uniquely against Muslims and Roma.

So I have mods thanking this horribly spiteful attack against both me and Muslims in general and I see mods thanking the posts. I see mods of the forum ignoring my report and then my PMs.

Finally Taltos responds today just as I am about to fill in the report form on the other site. He/she suggests I open a feedback thread, so I try and make one more appeal to fairness.

And now I am here. The 24 hour deadline I was hesitant to use, in the first place it is brash and aggressive and tbh embarrasing but it is for good reasons. I just want to post taken away for the very reason that I believe it incites hatred in non-Muslims towards Muslims and it is non-Muslims who hate Muslims who carry out hate crimes.

That said, I, trust you and am prepared to take you on your word that the people who know better than I do are prepared to at least make an honest judgement on this and if this will take time then so be it.

Maybe I'm wrong here but it seems to me that the mods dont agree with you, therefore the post isn't being removed.

In my opinion, you seem to have blown this whole thing out of proportion and it looks like you're digging up.

Its hard to work out what the forum rules are in terms of application though for a forum like A&A, moderation actually seems looser than the rest of the site and they still use the tactics that used to be common in Feedback (though I think its biscuits rather than lolcats) pre 2011ish.

Its an interesting forum but I'd view it like The Ladies Lounge, its a place thats fine to post and has interesting threads to read but you have to keep in mind in reality its a community forum where people can get very very passionate about subjects (the problem is unlike tLL this isn't obvious that this is the case).

In relation to the actual post, would I be misguided in thinking that in most other forums it would have been yellow carded for personalizing the debate and attacking the poster

I'm closing this thread. It was opened in possibly the least constructive manner imaginable: with a threat of legal action (albeit not in the usual form of a civil suit) if the OP doesn't get his desired outcome.

Two points: one, as an admin, I'm not seeing incitement to hatred in the quoted post. I'm seeing a lot of interpreting it in creative ways in order to arrive at the conclusion that it is incitement, but in the immortal words of Ricky Gervais: just because you're offended, that doesn't mean you're right.

The second point is that, as someone who runs one of the organisations that helps finance hotline.ie (something I'm very proud of), I'm fairly sure that their response to any report will be a resounding "meh". Make your report if you feel it necessary, but be aware that you'll be taking a content analyst's time away from (mostly) investigating reports of child pornography.

It's possible the thread will be re-opened upon review by the admin team and/or the office. It's also entirely possible it won't.

This thread isn't re-opening and Brown Bomber is done. Threatening this site with legal action has always resulted in a site ban and this time is no different.

    [edit]
You don't get prison access, there will be no appeal.
