    Two type of rates

Either you pay per room or you pay per person sharing. Dublin hotels will all do their own thing and some will even advertise both rates which is a head wrecker when you're looking for deals. There isn't one policy there.

As a former night porter if you're paying for the room then won't pay extra but if you bring a guest back they'll have to be registered and signed in. That's for a headcount which is a fire safety requirement, it's used for statistics and it's also used for insurance.

If ye head up to the room from the bar then nobody is ever going to know. If you are returning late and the porter wants your name and room number before buzzing you in through the locked front door then there is no way around it, the guest will have to register

Also if the duty manager is aware there is a guest up in your room they can arrive up around 10 - 10:30 and tell them to register or leave. That's rare but they're entitled to do it

Just book the room. If you manage to score then bring the person back and say nothing about it.

As long as you're not causing trouble you'll be fine.

From working in a Dublin hotel I can assure you than no one will give a toss if you bring someone back.
Just don't leave too much of a mess and nothing will be said.
