I don't know where mileage readings come from but they were all about 12,000 miles apart so maybe service history record or something like that.

What did done deal say when you reported add? Will they consider taking add down and ban seller?

This guy is outrageous!

In the last 6 months alone he has sold several cars from an Octavia, BMW 3 Series, an Avensis, a couple of Mondeos all that were Clocked.

He even blatantly wrote on his adverts that he had the Full service history for them and even Cartel reports for them. So not only is he selling clocked cars he is also somehow forging Service History and Cartel reports for them to tally them with their "new" mileage.

I believe he buys the cars at auction in the UK, where they would all be mileage verified with History reports as per auction house rules, and then brings them to Longford where they lose between 40,000 to 65,000 miles and get a "new" a service history appears tally with this mileage!!!

The saddest thing about this is that he is being "successful" in this fraud as he is obviously selling them to people who are not spending the 15 euro to do a comprehensive Motor check on these vehicles that he is selling for between 7,000 to 10,000 Euro. The mind boggles why someone would part with that amount of money without doing a 15 Euro Motor Check.

Donedeal should know his I.P address by now and should ban him. Instead all they do is eventually or sometime remove his adverts, after about 3 to 4 days, when the car might have been sold already.

Interesting update!

I rang "John" at 14.35 enquire about the Mondeo.

The call lasted almost 8 minutes.

Started with the usual, 'Is it still for sale'
'Can you tell me about it' 'Is the VRT amount accurate and how you calculate it..Where in Longford he is? Is the car in his name? How long he had the car and could I view it tomorrow..and other questions that a genuine caller would ask.

I must say this 'John' guy is very convincing and if I didn't have the Cartel report in front of me I would question myself.

He mentioned all the extras and then he willingly said that he had Motor checked the car and that he had the report in front of him stating it was never crashed, damaged and that it had the mileage on it aswell. He said that he actually never had the service history because he was never given it because it was a company car.

He first said that the car was in his name but then he meant to say that he was a motor dealer and that the V5 was in a company name. He said that it's better to buy from a dealer because most guys selling cars on UK reg have the car a lot longer than they say and that he only had it for 10 days. He said he buys the cars at auction at Manheim (I think that's what it's called) in Manchester.

I asked for the VIN number of the car to do a comprehensive Car history check but he said that he wasn't at home and anyway that he wouldn't feel safe giving the details over the phone but that I could have it when I view the car. I replied with "You're probably right there are a lot of scammers out there" ��

He said that I could meet him in Granard village in Longford and then go to "his house"

I then said "Okay William, what time suits you?"
He immediately said I'm not William, Who's William?"
I said "Oh sorry Richard or is it John, sorry I've rang so many people about cars today I've got confused with names"

He then semi-lost it, saying that to ring him back without blocking my number because he's getting people ringing him saying things about him.

I said, "oh sorry, Would you have any Skoda Octavias, BMW 3 series for sale that are clocked aswell?

And then he lost it!

It was amazing how he went absolutely insane
Saying I was nothing but a fooking tramp that hadn't the money to buy the car. That I was blablabla........

I said when he finally ended this torment of abuse
"Okay this call is being recorded and I'm giving it to the Gardai"

He then said " that he'll take me to the Gardai...and started his torment of abuse again....

I said Okay please do, this phone call is still being recorded....and then he hung up.

10 minutes later the Mondeo was marked as sold!

He certainly didn't sell it to me though!! ��

Almost identical to the UK reg Mondeo, must have got a 2 for 1 deal for them having genuinely high mileage.

He states this one has 51,000 miles, of course NOT genuine.
