Keyboard numberpad only working every second press?

Weird problem with my keyboard number pad. It only seems to recognise every second press. The first press gives me a number, the second will move it up, down, left or right depending on the number. Can anyone think of anything that would cause this?

Maybe the "numlock" button is being activated when you press down on the numeric keypad. That would toggle the keypad between numbers and cursor mode.

See if you can clean the keys with a brush, hover / shake the keyboard a bit (assuming it's not in a laptop). Don't want to shake a laptop with an active hard drive.
