CGT exemption on priperty

With regard to the cgt exemption if you buy a house before year end and keep for 7 years, would signing of the contracts before end of year be enough? Or would whole transaction have to be completed to qualify ?

THere's a thread on this in the Taxation forum; basically, the acquisition date for CGT runs from the date on which you sign an unconditional contract or the date of fulfillment of the final condition of a conditional contract.
