2014 Around the Horn: The Final! thebostoncrab vs Bounty Hunter-Question 1!

So, after a long delay (all to keep you in suspense guys ) we finally get around to the final of the 2014 Around the Horn competition featuring thebostoncrab and Bounty Hunter! As requested on the ATH discussion thread, this will be a 2 outta 3 falls contest!

So, to get us started here is a simplified version of the rules!

I will post a topic and you have to post your response including why you made that choice within a given time limit (before the next match is scheduled to begin), take care while making your responses however as the other contestant can counter your argument i.e pointing out possible flaws in what youve said.

*you can only counter an argument two times so make sure your point is worth making. If someone's defence of their argument isn't good it will count against them.

*You can use the same answer as your opponent if you wish i.e. you agree with their choice however its hard to win a debate when your making the same points someone has already made

Question 1: It is coming up to the Royal Rumble and therefore the Road to Wrestlemania. Triple H comes up to you with a radical idea-he wants the Diva's title built up similar to the WWE title is from the Rumble to Mania. He puts you in charge of booking an over-the-top battle royal, any title changes on the road to, and the booking of the Wrestlemania match. How do you book it, from the winner of the battle-royal all the way to the Wrestlemania match?

Very different and very interesting question which I gotta say I love... so here we go!


Dec 11th: NXT Takeover R:Evolution takes place
Challenger Sasha banks vs (c) Charlotte Flair



A hard fought contest which eventually sees Charlotte Flair win. Afterwards she cuts a promo which kinda blurs the lines between reality and fiction saying that her and Sasha don't get along, in fact they they straight up hate each other but... She has to respect her because the effort Sasha put in, in their match that night is more than you would ever see a main roster "Diva" make. She shakes Sasha's hand before her opponent leaves the ring but her promo isn't finished there as she then runs down the main rosters ladies using Total Divas, their relationships with the boys and their bra size as ammo before moving on to how they portray woman and woman's wrestling before emphasizing that she isn't a Diva's champion she is a Woman's champion. She also states that that is why she is on NXT, where real woman wrestle and where woman's wrestling isn't an afterthought.

This almost sounds heelish but you can def imagine her getting a huge pop from the NXT crowd for this "Pipe bomb" esque promo especially when she puts over NXTs woman (especially faces like Bayley & Alexa Bliss) for not being what like the main roster Divas she spoke about.


The following week on Raw Vince McMahon introduces the GM for the week (continuing the post Authority different figure in charge each week) as none other than former Womans champion and WWE Diva Trish Stratus.

That night Trish references those (Charlotte's) words and although she says she wants to disagree with them, she says it's hard. She brings up how she and Lita main evented Raw before something only the men had done till then but she isn't sure if the current crop of WWE Divas are good enough to do that. She goes as far as to actually challenge the Divas lockeroom to not only prove her and Charlotte wrong but also gives them the opportunity to do so and books a match for the next PPV, a match that unlike their male counterparts the WWE Divas have never had before, a 13 Diva Royal Rumble where the winner will face the champion at Wrestlemania!

Later back stage Vince tells Trish how he thinks a Divas Royal Rumble is a great idea but says that if they are going to challenge the Divas roster to up their game then the Divas champion should be leading the charge and announces that at the Royal Rumble the champ (Nikki Bella) go 1 on 1 face with a challenger that he will personally hand pick.

In the weeks following this the details of Divas Rumble are made clear and an extra stip is added. 2 woman start the match and every minute for the next 11 another woman is added. Just like in the mens Rumble if you get thrown out of the ring and both your feet touch the floor your out and the last Diva standing is the no.1 contender for Wrestlemania. The added stip is another way to promote the match and to push the Divas division to do their best. The first Diva eliminated will be...Fired!

As the rumble beckons there are a lot of rumours circulating such as that AJ will be first out as she is supposed to be quitting soon and that Vince will pick daddys little girl Steph to face Nikki Bella but what actually happens well...

Starting the match are AJ Lee and Paige while the third person out joining them after a minute is Natalya. Obviously this furthers the theory that AJ could be going but it also allows these 3 to They run (control) this match going forward.

Most of the other Divas who join the action from that point on are not in the ring too long and the first one eliminated is.... Cameron! why? cos she is fkn terrible and wrecks my head, no other reason tbph.

The last Diva out (no.13) that they make a big deal out of akin to no.30 in the mens Rumble is the returning Tamina Snuka. She helps clear the ring at that point and even eliminates Nattie but she is then eliminated by the woman she used to be a bodyguard for AJ Lee. (Nattie would be perfect along with the other 2 for keeping this match from being a mess but the angle will be about the new stars and the current top star in the division AJ)

Finally we get a Bret / Luger Rumble 94 style spot and both Paige and AJ, the ladies who started the match together both exit the ring together to be announced as co-winners.

Meanwhile in the Divas title match:

Nikki is waiting in the ring when her challenger and Vince McMahons hand picked opponent for her is announced as none other than Charlotte flair who just comes out with Daddy Ric by her side (at a huge PPV like the Rumble she would get a pop anyway but now it'd be huge)

Charlotte defeats Nikki with her own version of the figure four leg lock WOOOOOOO! and we have a new champion!

Charlotte comes out the night after the Rumble and once more cuts a scathing attack promo on the Divas lockeroom but this time as, as she put it, The Undisputed WWE Woman's champion and looking reminiscent of the mens champ Brock Lesnar carrying 2 title belts with her. She finishes the promo reminding everyone she doesen't wrestle on Raw and that if any Diva has a problem with what she has had to say they can find her down in NXT.

This can also be used as a way to plug the network as Nikki Bella will invade NXT to try and get the title back as they build to the next PPV (honestly can't think whats replacing EC on the road to mania this year) meanwhile Paige and AJ re-ignite their feud only this time not over some nonsensical lesbo bff storyline but over who should be no.1 contender at WM.

At the next PPV Nikki with many total Diva type main roster ladies in her corner faces off against Charlotte who has many NXT women in hers (the first NXT show after she won the belt she asked Ric to not accompany her to ringside as she wanted to make a name on her own).

Charlotte retains, meanwhile AJ vs Paige ends in a double count out when the two ladies fight throughout the arena and can't be gotten to go back to the ring.

Eventually it is decided that there will be 2 no.1 contenders and that at Wrestlemania there will be a triple threat with AJ Lee and Paige taking on Charlotte.

This storyline would see the Diva's title built up in a similar way to the WWE title. Not only would we see special matches created for the exact purpose of lighting a fire under the Divas roster but the future of that division in the form of the NXT women would be promoted heavily. The name value of a female Flair debuting on the main roster at the Rumble and of a female Rumble match itself would be huge for promoting purposes and the fact that there would be such a rivalry over merely being the no.1 contender for the Divas title heading into WM would certainly make being the champ and the title itself seem far more of a big deal.

Therefore it would do exactly what HHH asked so he would be happy... unless he had something else in mind for the Divas title
