    Hi All,

I'm looking at doing the BA in History (MH113) as a mature student.
I understand that one of the criteria for admission is the writing of an essay.

I know that there are other threads relating to other courses but I'm just wondering if anyone on here has done this specifically for the History course?
If so, then what type of questions does it involve (Ideally, can you remember any of the choices?).

Any help/guidelines will be gratefully accepted...

    Thanks,

    IM

I applied for this course in 2009 and was called to do the essay. You were given a choice of six topics, one of which was about your local library. I think the objective of the essay is to see how well you can write an essay or if you should be offered a place on the essay writing course over the summer. I was also a mature student and found it grand ;). Best of luck in college I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

    Hi Louliewan,

Thanks very much for the reply and my apologies for not getting back sooner.
I was a little apprehensive about the essay as I supposed that it was one of the main methods of filtering through the applicants but that sounds a lot better:).
I suppose the CAO application is the bedrock of the application so I'd better get working on that!
Thank you for all your good wishes and again, thanks for taking the time to get back.
