Get back on to who-ever you bought it off immediately - don't get shirty straight off , but expect it to be sorted-(you bought it off a dealer so it's not exactly buyer beware) if they try to fob you off it may have to be small claims -
Someone else here may have the legal blurb (sale of goods and services act 19diddleysomething) if not try citizens information -

Jasus OP, not alone have you lost fifth gear, but it looks like your credibility is slipping too. That can be both difficult and time-consuming to repair.
