New House: Dual Fuel with Electric Ireland - Gas Re-connection Fee?

    Hi Electric Ireland,

I have just purchased a new house in Cork city and am considering going with Electric Ireland for electricity and gas supply.  The house currently has the gas connection disabled as it was vacant for some months prior to sale.

I know that Bord Gáis charge a reconnection fee to basically turn the gas mains back on again, and was wondering if Electric Ireland also charge the same reconnection fee or whether Electric Ireland can cover some of this reconnection fee and give a reduced price on it, if they are taking on a new customer for dual fuel at the address?

    Hi jArgHA,

Thanks for your interest in being a customer of Electric Ireland.

Gas Networks Ireland (formerly Bord Gáis Networks) are the people who carry out gas connections/reconnections for customers of all suppliers, so it is their charge that would be passed on to the customer by ourselves. This charge for a residential customer would be €72.54.

If you are interested in signing up to a price-plan with Electric Ireland, details of our Dual Fuel plans are here on our switching page.

Do let us know if you have any further queries.

    Regards,
    Una
