I never met Brian Lenihan in person, but I imagine that this bumbling clown is an insult to him

"Get me this number in Paris."

The sentence that cost us all a fortune.

    Doesn't look like they're having a January sale either:P

Don't think it is a good representation at all

I think it's pretty decent so far, though the soundtrack is distracting and overused.

Big time, its like someone read how important music is in good TV drama, but kind if missed the point.

Why was he called the Black Prince?

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,749 ✭✭✭✭grey_so_what

Charlie was one of the few people who went to a Trade Show outside Ireland and saw Synthetic shirts on sale (Dunnes) and had a fit, he wanted to show crafts and real Irish Fashion.....He was one of the first who saw we had a real talent for crafts homegrown....

I actually met Charlie when I was a kid.He was canvassing before an election and I asked for his autograph just as he got into his car.
He just made a squiggly line on the paper and sat into the car and was driven off.I'm watching this series to see who plays me. :D

He played up the happy 'no problem' eejit for his electorate but he was a hell of a lot more shrewd behind it all.

No way was he a lapdog for Haughey in the manner he's being portrayed here.

Why was he called the Black Prince?

Well it wasnt because he was a man from an ethnic minority who wrote a song for Sinead O'Connor....

1970's/80's were a great time in politics - I loved the big stickers you used to get of the candidates!

The actress playing Terry is better looking than Terry was herself.

Which is great when a country is developing eg Bangladesh. But only fashion produced in Europe anymore is really ultra luxury goods like Chanel, Prada, Mulberry. Ireland cant compete on asian firms for craft goods. No even German with their ultra high quality products produces much steel kitchen ware anymore

I get the joke now but in those heady days of shirts in boxes we didn't have a voice of people who shouted "Guarantee Irish"....I remember it well, I was in the retail thread.....Were you brought up with the GI Trademark??....What about our tweeds/ arts/ natural products....will this drama do Charlie's legacy justice??.....
