Is the payment you receive while doing a momentum course means tested? I am currently on a reduced rate of jobseekers allowance due to means, will I receive the full rate if I am on a momentum course?

    7. If I am accepted on a project, do I receive any additional income support/ allowances?

There are no changes to a participant's entitlements. Participants on MOMENTUM projects will continue to receive their Social Welfare payments as previously. Full-time MOMENTUM projects are approved for Childcare Employment and Training Support (CETS). Participants who are offered a place on a full time MOMENTUM project can contact their local Childcare Committee for details of Childcare Providers offering CETS places in their area. Please note that places on CETS are very limited.

As you are on a reduced Jobseekers payment now due to means, the same rate of payment will apply, so yes, the means testing carries through. Had your Jobseekers been reduced due to age, as opposed to means, then your amount would be increased to €160 while on the course.

I thought they would be like fas courses, the training allowances for them are not means tested are they?

In the past, Fás payments were not means tested and participants had their Jobseekers payments upped to the max rate, as did BTEA and VTOS participants.
Since January 2013 http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/money_and_tax/budget_2013.html participants continue on the same rate of payment they were receiving from Dep of Social Protection but, as with Momentum, if they are on payments reduced only by their age, they will be topped up to €160

I'm in my first week of momentum and was told my payment would be upped to 166 but I still only got 144 today.

Can anyone confirm if this is wrong?

Why was it supposed to be increased?

If your on age related it gets boosted to 160, in 25 so was on 144.
