Fair City is not in the same league as Red Rock, IMHO!

Not a big soap fan but this is one of the better ones IMO. Fair city is awful.

I don't watch any soaps, and I only started watching Red Rock because I thought it was going to be a 1 hour weekly drama, and I was a bit disappointed when I heard it was a soap.
But I don' think that it is fair to lump it in with the likes of Fair City and Eastenders. Its way better than that.
I am totally hooked.
Like a previous poster said, word of mouth will be what helps the show grow in popularity. Remember also TV3 can't afford to put in as much advertising as RTE because as far as I am aware (and I am open to correction) they don't get any of the license fee.
People become very loyal to shows even when the quality gets poor, and I think that is why Fair City is still going. I think it is tripe, after watching an ep with one of the housemates one night, I decided I could be a script writer. The dialogue is just so forced. With Red Rock the script is very natural. But that is just my opinion.

I am disappointed if that's the end of McGonigle already. I'm loving the potential of the show in general but for a big meaty story this has been on its own so far. I thought they could have done more. Maybe they will and he will somehow talk his way out of it, but not looking likely is it? Maybe one avenue is he escapes from custody and torments Sharon and the Guards in general by becoming a bigtime criminal himself? I am clutching at straws I know , I did have an inkling that the actor may just stay for the duration of a short story

Might be. I have zero interest in spoilers, I want to see the show fresh on the day - but I love the discussion and banter.

So a separate thread might prevent me (and others like me) seeing unexpected surprises!

The other 8 soaps manage without seperate threads for spoilers, don't think it's necessary to start a separate one.
