Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Brutal stuff, last season's Fellaini has resurfaced, Mata has been anonymous, Rooney cack, Rojo cack, McNair cack.
Nice finish from RvP but he hasn't done all that much else.

I hate this system, it gives the opposition far too much space in the middle of the pitch.

Did I read that right? 53-47% Possession?

Honestly felt like high 60s for Soton.

The lack of pace or even players trying to take their man on or attack the space from Utd is shocking. Southampton never looked on the back foot in that half really. The one time you could sense a slight panic was when Johnny Evans saw a gap and ****ing ran in to it committing players and getting past them.

Definitely miss Di Maria and his directness, it always gives the opposition something to worry about. The likes of Young, Valencia and Rooney have it in their locker to beat players.

Best part of that half is that Utd aren't behind. It's pretty simple what they need to do in the second half to have a chance of winning the game. Up the ****ing tempo!!!!

It's not that, it's playing Carrick and Fellaini in front of it. Essentially 3 at the back, 1 covering them and 1 two way midfielder is absolutely ridiculous overkill on defending. Southampton have been sub standard recently and LVG dropped the ball big time by pussying out with his lineup, it was a big reason for Holland's ineptitude in an attacking sense at the business end of the WC.

Same story from last year. You press this united team and we crumble. We need our front two to start getting at the Saints back four, they are starting the attacks too easily for me, let's give them a taste of their own medicine.

It's not Carrick or Fellani, it's Antonio, it's always Antonio.

Can't believe it took S'hampton 20 minutes to realise how bad Utd are. They should be ahead at half time.

Really horrible football from Utd against an average Southampton side. Depressing viewing.

Utd will improve in the 2nd half though, impossible not to.

I detest seeing Fel and Carrick together; it the same problem as last year. They don't work together and they crumble under any pressure. We looked better when it was Fel and Ander...

Some confidence being displayed by Southampton though, they are so quick on the ball. We just need a smash and grab in the first few minutes then pray for the best.

fcuking dire stuff from united - they need an absolute bollocking from LVG.

He should give himself a bollocking first. We haven't performed properly with 3 at the back all season and he goes into this game with it and two slow CMs sitting on front of it. The United players could have done better themselves alright, but that half is mostly on van Gaal. Thank fook he took McNair off.

WTF are Young and Valencia playing at?! Miles up the field making it 3 on 3 at the back.

Long is always free at the back post.

    We are a shambles.

DeGea best in the world, when he stays on his line...

FFS, push Carrick into midfield and play 4 at the back. It can't be any worse.

This is one of the worst performances I have ever seen.

I don't care what VG is telling them or what formation they're in, these misplaced passes are just unacceptable.

    Rooney has been atrocious tonight.

  • The system we are playing allows Southampton the space to press. All over the ****ing place with we are

Young has been our best player IMO

Except for the fact he's left Long alone at the back post a few times....

Van Persie has been very good with what little service he's gotten btw.

Players would want to be busting a gut here, no desire by a lot of them!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,500 ✭✭✭Your Airbag

At least its Fellaini/Herrera in the centre now and not Carrick/Fellaini, although right now it seems to have made zero difference.

We may as well be down to ten men with Mata's complete failure to get invovled on any level in this game.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,606 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

    And that pass...

Young is having a stinker out there. Get him off.

Rojo and Fellaini misplacing passes that were 100% made in the last few games. What's happening?

You could leave Long alone with Milosevic and a gun and he still wouldn't know what to do.

Highpressing workrate, desire, good meaningful passing in the final third and overall organisation. Southampton look like everything we are not.

Its no wonder they are doing so well. They deserve the win right now.

Every touch RVP has had today has been really good positive stuff.

    That's more like it United!
