Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What i don't get is that if Wenger won't play him because he's not of the Iniesta mould tricky wide player etc, then why buy him.

OK so at least after the shock of last season, now we can compare ourselves favourably to Liverpool again.

that and the qualification is nice but it doesn't take away from everything else tbh.

And while we're in a decent mood I have to say I fear for our sanity in the coming two months.

There is no way Kos is going to be able to play every game and whenever he's out and we're playing a half decent opposition, the rest of the defence collectively panic.

I'm pinning my hopes of a decent december on Kos playing about 50% of games and Mert sorting his **** out.

But I think getting negative on it is going round and round in circles.

Wenger didn't sign enough defenders, he just didn't. But there's nothing we can do about that. He deserves cirticisim but freaking out about the same things week after week when really the mistakes were made in the summer.

Wenger is the manager he is. He doesn't do tactical substitutions. He doesn't do defensive coaching. He doesn't do containing tactics. His mantra is to support and back his players.

His whole football philosophy is firstly about his team playing.

Obviously that makes the lack of action in the market even worse because other managers might be able to cope with inexperienced replacement defenders by giving them a precise system to stick to whereas I've little doubt Wenger's instructions to Monreal and Chambers in the CB position are to 'defend well, you're great'.

The next time Kos doesn't play in the league, we'll probably lose or draw to an opposition we should be beating.

Wenger will not have changed his tactics
He will not have made early substitutions
He will not be too critical on the team (which is fair because it's kind of his fault)

We all know this.

Us arguing about it doesn't help too much.
