Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been calling for Jonesy to get the start for weeks now...

I've called for it before Stoke, Palace etc etc....

    For United it's madness....

    but madness might just work...

It stinks of Rodgers trying to prove that he can make big calls.

  • Odds for Phil Jones getting injured?

I didnt think i would be saying this a few months ago, but i really wish Kolo and Lucas were in the Liverpool team today, other than that, the team is as strong as we can field right now. Mig and Lambert have done nothing recently to deserve to start.

Think Lovren's future could be on the line today - in the eyes of supporters at least. Coming back in at the expense of the one Liverpool player who has been impressive in the last month, he needs a huge performance.

To be fair Mignolet has been very poor this season, can't imagine Jones being any worse but just seems like a strange game to do it in, surely he would have been better off dropping him a few weeks ago when he was even shakier. Lucas and Toure should feel hard done by not to be starting, both have played well lately, but perhaps they could do with a rest as they have both been playing a lot of games lately. Apart from that I'm fairly happy with the team selection, I think we will be better off playing with no centre forward, Balotelli and Lambert offer very little and hopefully with the likes of Coutinho, Lallana and Sterling making runs it will make us a bit more of a threat going forward.

Uniteds team is incredibly attacking, only two defenders in their starting XI.

Or he's trying to get the sack and a big pay cheque.

No recognised striker starting and a worse keeper than Mignolet takes his place for Liverpool.

United have their problems too, but I'm going with United by 2.

    Jones????? Is Mig injured?
    No, he's just shite.

Dont understand if mig is dropped for an even shakier keeper,!

I think Wilson could impress today. He has bags of pace. Reckon he could get on the score sheet today.

Would love to see one of the United players kiss the camera after scoring :)

Yeah, the stuff Mig does badly Jones dies just as bad or worse.

The stuff Mig does well Jones can't do.

    Weird stuff

It is strange timing to drop Mignolet for me.

A massive game with huge pressure heaped onto Jones now. He has never struck me as the type to thrive on it.

You never know though, he has sat in reserve for a long time and maybe he is ready to take his chance.

No matter what the score. We will all be winners today.

Such a peaceful pre match thread.

  • What he say?

Was asked a question about why he has chosen Wilson ahead of falcoa. Just the way he responded

    "Speed!!"
    "Point!!"

Carragher: "Some people are saying that this isn't the same team that you [Solskjaer], Gary Neville and all those others guys played in, but..."

Hold on Jamie... YOU said that. You said it less than 10 minutes ago when talking about if there was any chance of winning the league this year if the gap is closed by New Year!! :pac:

It's sad that there's barely even enough footage of Liverpool playing well for the Sky Sports pre game montage :o

How do the yanks cope with so many ad breaks? It's fuckin mental.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,564 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

How the heck can anyone think Jones is a better option than Mignolet? Remember the times he actually played?

Anyway I think Liverpool will win this and beat Arsenal next as well but get knocked out of the League Cup.

I'd say it'll be the diamond not 3 at the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,502 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

I think the 3 at the back formation is only for attacking. We'll switch to 4 and the diamond when United have the ball (read: all the time).
