Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

probably sign yaya and captain him
most if my team is away bar green and eriksen
BUT rooney has an incredible record against villa so will see how he looks today

No Austin? I'll probably be going for him.

Austin probably. Watching Liverpool play this bad against United has me thinking of Sanchez as well, he could do some damage if they play this bad next week!

Van Persie or Austin. Likely Van Persie with Austin vice at the moment.

Once I decide to who to field or drop I'll have an idea. I've put myself in a great position for the games to follow GW 17 as I'm loaded up on quality midfielders and I've got a strong bench. The problem is I have Austin Giroud and Costa up front. I'm considering ditching Costa.

The only viable midfielder I can drop is Downing and he's at home to Leicester, total cluster ****, but I'm hoping this will put me in a strong position when rotations start happening.

    /end rambling.

It's between Austin and Yaya. Both Palace and Westbrom are capable of keeping it tight at the back on the road. Of the two teams Palace are far more likely to park the bus. Westbrom will look at this fixture and see it as an opportunity to bag three points and Palace will play for a draw or look to nick a goal on the counter.

Palace kept a very respectable scoreline against Spurs and United. I think Austin might shading it right now.

leaning towards Sanchez at the moment. Austin is tempting but you just know WBA are going to park the bus. Liverpool are a right mess at the moment and i really do fancy Sanchez to score

For as bas as liverpool are right now, defensively at home they are quite good - in 8 games at home, they have only conceded 6 goals, compared with 16 goals in 8 away games.

i'll probably keep the armband on RVP since it worked well this week.

Im seriously giving thought to captaining harry kane next week at home to burnley. Brought him in 4 weeks ago for a 4.8 bargain, watched the game today he could of had a hat trick very easily. He should be in the poll at least. decent option imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,113 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

Rolling the dice on Silva, he will player further up on the pitch and maybe in a striker role.
Who else have city for this position bar poza?

Think I'm going to gamble on him this week, nothing obvious in my team with lots of away fixtures, only other would be Downing so worth a punt imo.

Gonna be very interesting this week (or is it next week :P?) as there is no real obvious choice. I just brought in the lovely Sanchez and have it on him at the moment. He's always dangerous and Liverpool look terrible at the back as well as a dodgy Brad Jones in goal. Kane at home to Burnley is also tempting and he is currently my the Vice Captain.

Yeah I currently have 10 players playing away! Sanchez could be a good shout - seems to do better than Hazard away from home.

I'll probably bring Silva in, but not sure if he's captaincy material just yet.

Will Jones keep his spot for Liverpool? Would seriously consider Sanchez if so, Brad Jones is simply awful.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Even if he doesn't, Mig can't exactly be full of confidence after being dropped.

Mignolet dropped 'indefinitely' - Brendan Rodgers. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30471299

But yeah either way it's a poor defence and Sanchez should have a nice time against them :)

Does this matter much? I'd judge it on the teams form, players form, oppositions form, oppositions injuries and suspensions...

He scored a hattrick the year they won the league. If he didn't score the previous 3 games before that, would that alter your decision making?

Certain players have good records against certain teams so yes, I would bear it in mind. For example, Vidic always struggled against Torres (when he was good!).

Think RVP or Sanchez are the top candidates for me.

Ok, checked into this and I remember right. Going back 4 seasons average of over 3.6 goals per game in 8 PL meetings.

29 goals in total in that period. 23-6 in favour of United! United scored 5 against then in total in 11/12, 6 in 12/13 and 7 last year.

At Villa Park the results were 2-2, 0-1, 2-3, 0-3

Goalscorers for the 23 goals makes better reading for Rooney owners who put value in this sort of thing.
    Rooney 6 (in 4 different games, 2x2, 2x1)
RVP 3 (a Hatrick at OT)
    Welbeck 3
    Hernandez 3
    Vidic 2
    Mata 1
    Cleverly 1
    P Jones 1
    Nani 1
    Macheda 1 (remember it!!)
    Vlaar 1 (og)

To put it another way, in their last 5 meetings, 3 home and 2 away United a have scored 4, 3, 3, 3, 4

Sold....to the big in form Dutchman at the front.
