leaning towards Sanchez at the moment. Austin is tempting but you just know WBA are going to park the bus. Liverpool are a right mess at the moment and i really do fancy Sanchez to score

What'll actually happen is the total opposite to this I'd imagine.

Both teams will be thinking that 3 points is definitely up for grabs in this one, so there's no hope whatsoever for bus parking. I'd say it'll be packed full of goals.

I'm leaning towards Eriksen as well. I've learnt my lesson from making some cheapies captain this season (Jelavic), so I won't risk it with Austin.

eriksen and spurs are soooooooooo unreliable
I just can't bring myself to captain him

The thing that's holding me back a bit on eriksen is the carling cup game wed and they have struggled at home all season. He is still my best option though currently which is worrying.

Spurs are all over the place at the moment. But they are playing Burnley. At home. And Eriksen and Kane are their only "in-form" players. That's about the only argument I can make for Eriksen right now. :pac:

Which means I'll change my captaincy choice a million times before the weekend. I hate this game sometimes... :(

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville pointed out last night that burnley have conceded one goal or less in NINE of their games so far......that would worry me !

Armband is on Charlie Austin at the moment after his weeks rest! Brought RVP in this week though and have Costa also so it could all change yet!

Me too on the Austin thing, but I've no certainty in the decision. Toure is the other one I'm strongly considering. Bony to an extent too.

Transferred Toure back out this week to afford RVP, City looked a bit sheepish without Aguero at the weekend! Saying that Lampard might be worth a punt

If anyone had said on here three weeks ago (when I stupidly did captain him) that RVP would be one of the leaders in this week's captain poll they'd probably have been banned for trolling!!

    I haven't got a notion.

RVP, Austin, Bony, Sanchez and Hazard are all options.

If I sell Mirallas then his replacement should probably be an option too.

In a strange turn of events in my head, I think I'm now persevering with Costa. I dunno :o

For the first time in a long time I'm pretty much certain of my transfer and my captain for this week.

Dimichelis in for Kompany and RVP (c)

    Sanchez the only other temptation.

Wouldn't risk Eriksen, Costa has a way to go to earn it back too. Bony missing too many chances, although he could get a hat trick any week now.

I'm very firmly in no risky captains territory ranking wise.

Think I'll go with Hazard. His away record is poor but he's scored tonight and is hitting a good run of form.
And I love a Monday night captain

Seeing as Hazard broke his away duck tonight I'm beginning to consider him more. Although Stoke could well do a job on him. In saying that Hazard could easily do a job on Bardsley too

it sure does. I remember the early morning game aguero scored 4 and I did not have him :( city don't have a midweek game so early saturday morning makes no odds

The last time I captained a city player for the early morning game was Aguero in Gameweek 9 and I promised myself I would never captain anyone ever again for the 12:45 game.

so I gotta find someone else to captain now :(

Giroud against that Liverpool defense is a tempting one.
Will probably bottle it and stick with Costa tho

Hazard away from home never seems to do as well granted he scored away in the cup last night . I'm thinking Hazard , kane or Yaya . on Yaya for now but that will change .

Certain players have good records against certain teams so yes, I would bear it in mind. For example, Vidic always struggled against Torres (when he was good!).

I know what you're saying, I'm challenging it.

Take RVP for example, who seems to be hitting form.

He scored a hattrick the year they won the league. If he didn't score the previous 3 games before that, would that hypothetical poor form alter your decision making?

I'm going with Sanchez over Yaya, for Toure to score you need a penalty or a long range effort.

Tempted by Rooney but he was playing mostly at the half way line against liverpool

I have to drop someone from my team this GW and it's a bastard of a decision, right now I have Downing on the bench and here's why...

All Downing's goals were scored on the road this season. He's bagged a few assists at home but most of his points tally seems to come from away games. Small sample size but an interesting tidbit. I still haven't made up my mind on who to drop or who to Captain. I can't leave Austin on the bench this GW as he's a serious contender for the armband.

I think you're reading way too much into that away stat and it's way too smalll a sample to be doing that. He's playing Leicester at home who are a poor side so I think you have to play him. Who are you playing ahead of him?

Yeah... I'm clutching at straws alright, but it was the only valid reason I could find to drop someone. Still, personally speaking I wouldn't captain Downing there's so many better options.

Don't want to derail the thread so I posted here.

Very torn this week - has to be the most interesting GW for captain choice in a while.

Like a few others, I'm thinking of Yaya but I dislike having a 12:45 captain - though in saying that, captain Aguero versus Spurs earlier in the season worked brilliantly. Sergio he ain't, though.

I currently have it on Austin, but that's likely to change a dozen times before Saturday.

Really that big a punt? He's probably the best captain option this week outside of the Man City players he's 6/4 to score any time which is only a small bit bigger than Yaya and he is leading the poll. These weeks with no clear pick are always more interesting trying to find where the points are going to come from! Not convinced on Eriksen for this week but no convinced on anyone right now!

Taking a punt on Sterling there will be goals in that game and I think he will atone for his bad game against Utd. Hopefully Brendan keeps playing him up front.

Oooh goody, I love a challenge :pac:

That hypothetical poor form against them would show up in his record. I didn't just ask how he performed in one game against them. I asked if anyone knew his record against them.

If he played four games and only scored once against them (even if it was three goals), then yes, I am less likely to captain Van Persie than if you have a player like say Aguero playing Spurs that weekend as he always scores a truckload against them. I'd rate 3 goals in 4 different games against someone over a hat trick in one game.

As I said, different players have good records against particular teams. It may be the way they play, it may be tactics, it may be the opponent's weaknesses, hell, it may even be positive visualisation because they've performed well against that team before, what it is I don't know but there's certainly plenty of evidence of it.

I read a lot of football books and you'll often hear players talk about their favourite opposition and games. Gary Neville vs Liverpool for example. Fergie actually used to tell him to calm it down. Roy Keane about Fergie saying the only team talk they needed vs Tottenham was "lads, its Spurs".

Just looked in this thread for the first time, can't believe that Yaya is leading the poll, surprised 21% of us even own him, never mind captaining him.

I'm thinking of giving it to Costa (partly because MNF is usually the only peaceful watching I ever get done), Austin is tempting but I'll probably stick with Costa. If I had either Rooney or RVP I'd probably give it to either.

Yaya or Austin for me right now. Leaning slightly towards Austin. However, I could easily bring in RVP or Downing who are also super choices.

    Will decide tomorrow night sometime.

Don't know where he'll play, how fit he is or who will be up front to score chances created.

Could be great if he ends up being up front, but could be a disaster.

    High risk.
