Which is probably a bug not a feature.

It's a feature. For the first 50 posts, new accounts can't post images, URLs or attachments - that extends to quoting images and URLs too. It's an anti spam/anti shill measure - it prevents spammers from signing up and posting their wares straight away.

It's a bug. The feature is that new users can't post links. The bug is two fold.

    1) to quote a link is not to post your own link. You will probably miss the guy you are quoting had a link or forget it.
    2) when the post is refused all your text is deleted.

Put it in the bug db and get to it whenever.

Also the 50 limit is not working as this is my 65th post on this account. And still getting the warning.

Gotta be here 10 days as well as the 50 limit.

It's to do with join date as well. Unfortunately, they cant allow newbies to quote posts with URL's as it would be too easy a work around for spammers and re-reg trolls. The rule is there for a reason, it would be too easy to wrap quotes around a url to post a link

You should be able to, your account is over 10 days old and has more than 50 posts. Try quote this post as it contains a link http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=361

Have you tried logging out and back in. Maybe clear your cache and cookies. Just guessing here.

It should be easy to modify the 'reply post' script for new posters, to automatically remove links from quotes - definitely a 'bug', that quoting posts causes that issue; some new users that are new to forums and are not that computer literate, will probably not know what is wrong (will see no link in their own part of the post, and think "wtf ") and not bother posting.
Probably a minimal impact on new users staying/not-staying, but still worth tweaking the 'reply post' script, to prevent that potential issue.
