Whatever other talents he may have, modesty isn't one of them :D

Of all of the absolutely bonkers things I can think of to do in this life, downhill skiing while effectively blind is up there at the very top of the list

    At last. Some proper horses.

    Movember's over, Gary. :o:D

Rory seems to have had something of a personality makeover in the past year or two.

That could swing it for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,627 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Well, apropos of my earlier post, at least Rory has a bit of personality and ability to laugh at himself about him.

    McIlory FTW.

The last golfer to win was Nick Faldo in 1989 - although, of course, Darren Clarke should have won in 2006...

(How many times have I mentioned Darren Clarke tonight, actually? :D;))

I miss the days when Des Lynam would bring some charm, class and humour to this programme. Legend.

Makes me wonder if the guides competes in able bodied events, as surely they adjust their speed or technique to assist the blind athlete down the hill.

King Kenny in the audience there. Couldn't wait to get out of Old Trafford quick enough today I'd say.

They don't do the funnies any more, either. :(

No reason why you can't have both those and the "in memoriam" bit. (That's said with the very greatest of respect, BTW.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,627 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Someone needs to urgently rewrite the script and let Gary off to the bar for a hot whisk(e)y.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,627 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Programme is scheduled till 10.30pm, with a warning that subsequent programmes may be affected.

What on earth are they going to do for the next hour

Absolutely. In the earlier programme Des said that the critics hated the light hearted games and funny clips, but the public would stop him on the street and say how much they enjoyed it.

Now it's all about making sure they mention paralympians, women, scottish people etc etc. All very worthy but the life has been sucked out of it.

And not bad jokes or puns. Remind me of one of the presenters a few years saying that Gavin Henson spent to much time in Church, with half the audience shuffling uncomfortably in their seats.

And, of course, this used to be called the Sports Review of the Year...

A lot of sexy legs on display tonight.

A sight not witnessed in Glasgow since Bananarama performed at the Barrowlands during their UK tour in 1983.

    The Euros?

Don't you mean England's magnificent performance in not turning up for the World Cup?

I had to use a UK IP address before I could vote for Rory McIlroy

The BBC must be worried that Irish people might hiajck another of their votes!
An Irish republican song, A Nation Once Again, has been voted the world's top tune according to a BBC World Service poll.

An hour and 41 minutes before Beckham was mentioned or seen.

That's the longest they've gone without referring to him since 1992.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,627 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

    Yayyyyy! An Irish winner!

Why did they bother bringing Carl Fogarty onto the stage for that award???

    Philip Hughes RIP.

Surprised it took them two hours to mention him, and then only for a minute.

    :(

Well deserved recognition for Paul McGinley, it would have been a travesty had one of the others won.
