Yeah that why I say he could just "draw" with rob... For me the 3 backs are very very close.. I didn't say Connacht back 3 is better, just contested your opinion that Leinster's was

    for me it's

Front Row : 60% in favour of Connacht
    2nd row : 60% Leinster
    back row : 55% Leinster
    9/10 : 50/50 (Marmion compensate for Carty)
Centres : 60% Connacht (Aki well ahead of Reid, Henshaw equal to Fitz)
    back-three : 50/50

So overall a very very tight game with slight usal advantage for the home team

This is like a "My Da' is bigger than your Da' " playground fight.

Are you sure about that? According to my calculations it's 63%, 56.5%, 64%, we agree on the 50/50, 67%, and then also 50/50.

How are you reaching these calculations?.....

I don't mean to single out your post Swiwi, but can we please park the subjective and pedantic comparisons of individual players and focus on the match? Is that too much to ask?

Youy do realise that 66.973214% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Yes and anywhere behind the posts is a good spot. :)

    72% of people know that.

The other 36% failed maths in school.

Also the RDS is along simmonscourt road right, it's not Donnybrook rugby grounds..?
The South Stand is right by Simmonscourt Road - the nearest entrance is right opposite Bewleys. We're in the North stand and usually go 2/3 way from the front, behind the posts.

Bright and cold here in Dublin.....need to wrap up. Windy too. But should be a decent enough night for the game. C'mon Leinster!

Kind of good news / no news. I'd rather he stayed in Galway where he can make a difference to Connacht.

You think Leinster is full enough of 2nd rows to finish the season brightly? (real question, no sarcasm)

    Think you have that flipped.

If Leinster are a bit thin in the second row, Id much rather convert McLaughlin or Ruddock any day than take Roux back. In fact Id be surprised if Leinster didnt precipitate the decision for that very reason.

He's really kicked on this year. Leinster will be getting a very different player back next year. McFarland has knocked some toughness into him.

It's a pretty much perfect demonstration that players need gametime. If Marmion had been at Leinster I'm almost positive he'd be 3rd/4th choice and certainly nowhere near where he is now. D Ryan gets a run of games because of injuries and ends up in the Ireland squad, McLaughlin becomes 2nd choice and goes from very capable H Cup player to average at Pro12 level.

It's a bit of a dead horse at this stage but there needs to be more cooperation like that between the provinces. It's just a win for everyone.

It doesn't sound like they want him back.

In terms of tonight's game, I still feel Leinster will have too much. I'd give them the edge in about 9 of the 15 positions and their bench is on another level to Connacht's. Connacht's front row should keep us in it for an hour but I'd expect Leinster to turn it around in the final quarter if they're not already ahead at that stage. I would have some hope that Connacht can take a losing bonus point here though to set them up for a right crack at Munster in the new year.

Are Leinster that well off in the second row? I wouldn't have thought so. Surprised enough Roux staying West, but it seems to have worked out well, so more luck to him.

We have 5 locks in the squad and only 1 of them is gone during the international window. He's much better off getting another 10-15 games in Connacht.

This is great news he has been playing really well for us this season. Has this been officially announced haven't seen anything from Connacht yet?

I dunno...look at what happened last wk. I think it reasonable to say that Leinster had the edge on at least 11 of the Quinns team last week. In terms of both talent and international caps (in case of another smart arsey post: a good indicator in that instance of Leinster's strength and experience v's Quinns lack of experience and young age profile)

Leinster are a side playing disjointed rugby, with poor decision making and handling. I would say they are very, very low on confidence. Connacht will make hay in midfield and I expect it to yield at least a try. Right now I cant see where Leinster are going to manufacture try scoring opportunities from.
    Connacht to edge it

    So did I actually.

Looking forward to the game this evening and also very nervous about it.
Should be close and on paper both teams look reasonably level. I think home advantage and Leinster's experience will see them through.
    Hope I'm wrong though.

This isn't directly related to your post but it reminded me of somethign I read this morning. The Indo had an interview with Mils today and I thought this bit on handling was interesting.
“You talk about the weather and things like that, but we’ve just had a really good week of training and I think we dropped more balls in the early part of the season in dry conditions than what we have in the last few days in crap weather.”

It has been remarked upon a few times during recent matches that Connacht handling has been excellent even in poor conditions. Dave Ellis has done a fantastic job as skills coach. It's gonna be an exciting backline to watch tonight

Beers in the office while doing KK shortly. That'll tide me over until I have to leave for the RDS. More beers there followed by more beers after. I do so love Friday games.

As an up-the-front terrace dweller I've developed an ability to hold it for the 40 minutes. Out of pure necessity. Although the first part of that period they call the championship minutes (the 10 minutes before half time) can get a bit uncomfortable. :o

Let's hope for no scrums around the 39th minute....

Are you that sure Roux will head back East? After all, his contract ended this summer, he adapted well in Connacht, and could even have HCup gametime in green..

If ever there was a time for us to win at the RDS, this is it. 17-13 Connacht.
