Laptop freezing

    I'm posting here as I don't think the problem is specifically due to it being a laptop.
    It is a Packard Bell laptop with an old i3 CPU, running Win7 with 4GB RAM.
    Occasionally it will freeze for several minutes. Streaming audio stops. Mouse pointer doesn't respond. HDD and wifi lights go out. Display stays on.

    I thought maybe the HDD was dodgy, so I installed OS to a different disk. Thought it was OK, but its just done it again. On the previous disk it might do it a couple of times during the day, with hours of normal operation in between.

    Laptop is running all day, has been de-fluffed and sits on a desk, raised above the surface to allow best airflow. CPU is at 100% because I'm running Folding@Home on it
