Word 2013 - Set 'Pattern Fill' shape to transparent?

    I used to be able to pattern fill a shape and then make it transparent but it seems I can no longer do that in Word 2013?

    Am I missing something?

    Apparently the feature was removed from Word so the only solution I had was to take the shape, copy/paste it into my graphics program and save it as a transparent png. A bit of a tedious work around but it turned out ok.
