1.22 there last night. What's dodgy about it?

I don't know the place, but is it a yard with a diesel pump, no petrol and nothing else, cash only and deliveries coming in at 3 am in northern reg trucks with no brand name on them?
    If so, its dodgy.
Mind you, I wouldnt trust some petrol stations, filled up locally and spilled a bit of diesel. I'm pretty sure it was green.

It is on one of the busiest roads in one of the most up-market parts of Dublin, 200 meters from the Aviva Stadium. Maybe it is hiding in plain sight but if it is dodgy, I would have thought it would have been rumbled by now. It has been there forever.

Winter diesel has a slight yellow-to-green colour to it.

    Green diesel is VERY green.

No worries, I don't know the place, so I'm it saying anything either way.

I presume caused by the addition of kerosene - amongst other things - to prevent sludging?

And yes, we had a couple of land only machines running on agri, it's almost fluorescently green. Like red diesel is fluorescently red.

    Still 1.30 odd in Navan.

It was closed for years. Only reopened about 24 months ago. White unmarked MN reg trucks deliver at 2.00 am, so I'm sure it's legit. If it were Northern regs at 3.00 am I'd be worried all right.

    €1.25.9 at Topaz in Charleville.
Normally takes between €92-96 to fill my tank...now currently at €75 :) so I'm saving nearly €20 a week on diesel. Fingers crossed it keeps going down.

I've noticed a lot of 7's recently too. Still a bit SShnaky though :)

As for Galway, driving around the city center is like being trapped in a Kafka-esque nightmare and there's no escape. Avoid at all costs. Arty-farty with nothing behind it. Limerick is ten times better.

    Like it Doc! :pac:

1.22 in Amber on Paddy Browne's road, Waterford.

There's a new Applegreen after opening in Swords and has decent priced fuel. The one at the top of the town was always very expensive but all of a sudden, for the first time I can remember, they're down to a competitive price.

Healthy competition is what you want

I noticed that everyone else in Limerick went from early 20's back to 1.26 to 1.28, I guess "Because we're worth it!"
Anyone else notice fuel prices creeping up again? A lot of petrol stations are probably thinking "They're so drunk on cheap fuel, we can add a few cents of pure profit and they won't even notice".

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,193 ✭✭✭Cleveland Hot Pocket

119 in dublin and kildare now, still up at 1.30 out here in nyyyyaaavvvvan.
I think that the fuel stations up here are still focused on chrismas and not bloody putting the right prices in!

Was in Galway over Christmas and they are indeed robbin pricks!

It's at least 10 cent more expensive per litre than some places in Dublin.

    think i seen :

    127.9 petrol
    119.9 Diesel

    Ushers Island, Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,236 ✭✭✭Dr. Kenneth Noisewater

    Varying wildly or so it seems. Was all over the country in the last week and saw diesel prices fluctuate as follows;

    1.29 Borrisokane
    1.28 Athlone
    1.21 Roscommon town
    1.26 Sligo
    1.29 Ballybofey
    1.20 Dublin
    1.29 Emyvale
    1.18 Newcastlewest
    1.19 Tralee

The cheapest I've seen are in Dublin and along the stretch from Limerick - Tralee.

My best guess is that it's the last station before Cashel and the like if you're going to Dublin, usually. Able to up the prices due to that and it's seriously busy as is. I do prefer working in Ballincollig though :P
