I'm looking for an old motorcycle trade / garage number plate to hang on my garage wall. A metal or plastic plate. Anybody know of such a plate available?

I'd also be interested in an old car trade plate. Cheers!

I could be wrong but don't these plates remain property of the Revenue and have to be returned if not renewed?

It's not something thats strictly enforced, a bit like used tax discs really.
Some dealers opt to return them, some don't. I've seen some garages with expired plates hanging up.

That last image shows a well shot up plate.
I hope they got away all right :D

    Looks like gunshot 'wounds' alright!:D
Some dealers had little 'respect' for their plates...drilled random holes rather than using straps to hold the plates in place.

Anybody have such a plate available??

At this stage it'd probably be easier (and maybe even cheaper!) to get a fake one made up :)

Don't laugh but there is actually a roaring trade in fake cast-iron 'antique' railway signs.

Must be one or two old trade plates out there (any year) gathering dust on a shelf? :pac:

Have you tried looking around the stalls at the classic bike shows. There was one in Carlow at the weekend but there's another one on in Swords on the May bank holiday
