'The Dark Prince' or something like that would be a better name, more gravitas.

    He wasn't evil.

More like a good man with tragic flaw.

It's not some kind of Batman remake. "The Dark Prince" would be a ridiculous name.

    Gillien looks absolutely knackered...

    Was he called that?

yeah ... that's open to debate.

I never said he was evil. But there was a dark side to him

Still reeling from those Take That Christmas crackers, he's paid hundreds of thousands of Euro!

'Crook, Liar and a Thief' would have been more suitable!

Why is Ryan grinning so broadly while Aidan Gillen is talking seriously???

I was looking for an election poster for Tubridy's brother when he was going for Leinster House a couple of year's back and look what I found..

    TUBWARD_1.jpg

I really dont know what that JonathanAnon guy was smoking when he used to post here..

Jeez Aidan seems to have hit the Green Room hard

He kind of sounds like Bono at times

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,872 ✭✭✭Sittingpretty

    Jesus he is dull.

He may be very bright but he sounds like my 15 year old nephew trying to explain something that happened well before he was born.

Is it just me that thinks this or is Gillen putting on this twinge of an American accent?

I've always found Haughey fascinating, I completely disapprove of some of the things he did but his love of the arts, horse racing, the West of Ireland, the sea and all things French made him interesting (to me anyway :o).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

The writer has a bit of a look of Gerald Kean about him too.

    The voice is so wrong....

When I first heard he was doing it, I thought he will probably get the voice pretty well but he looks nothing like him... And it's actually completely the other way..

he can't do accents, so highly doubtful

Really looking forward to seeing this but I'm not sure of Gillen's voice/accent

What kind of a credible interviewer cuts off a guest mid-sentence to cut to a lengthy clip advertising the show?

Hozier is a nice guy to have for an interview. He has huge talent and I wish him the best of luck.

And Aidan Gillen is a fine talent in the field of acting. I cannot wait to see the drama named Charlie in January.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭CountyHurler

Gillen's demeanour is very odd, very disinterested, almost in contempt... I think he's saying to himself.... "Why am I on this crap show, I'm used to be on The Wire, now I'm being interviewed by a man who looks like a piece of wire"..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

He was a nasty corrupt piece of shit.

But there was also another side to him...

Tubbs : He spent 15,000 pounds on Charvet shirts? Pffftt, bloody pauper....

Gillen seems to be very reluctant to expand on anything in this interview.....

Aidan doesnt look/sound too happy to be there!

  • Registered Users Posts: 682 ✭✭✭small town girl

So, we all differ in opinion about whether Gillen is good as Charlie Haughey..... But we all agree that Tubridy is ****e as Gay Byrne??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,676 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

He lit up talking about GoT :pac:

For an acclaimed actor, Aidan Gillen has a very dull monotone speaking voice.

He's still in John Boy's character and hasn't been able to stop!

    That's Aiden's schhhhtick. All 5 foot 5 of him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

But there was also another side to him...

There was probably another side to Joe Stalin as well.

But there was also another side to him...

It's easy to look back now alright and judge him but he did drag Ireland out of the dark ages and set the stage for the massive investment a decade later.

I was only a kid when he was in power but I'll be watching this for sure.

That or he just has zero charisma.

I saw Aidan Gillen in town a few months ago.

I was cycling on a Dublin Bike and as I saw him coming towards me I didn't recognize him as an actor. Instead I thought I knew him through work or something so I gave him a big friendly greeting as I passed. In fairness to him he nodded back at me!

    Call Brendan O'Caroll.

    D'Movie 2. Bertie's Snowballs.

    Or some sh*t.

I find him like that in general... even introducing Other Voices he came across disengaged and a bit too smug. Don't get it at all.
