Brendan's in Smithfield by the fruit market. Toasted batch with loads of butter, potato crisps and a proper mug of tea..

I personally think Cafe Sofia on Wexford St is excellent

Be interested to hear where else I should try as a Christmas treat :)

The Earl? That's a bit of a dump! It was a good spot when it was Anne's years ago.

I'll second Cafe Sofia on Wexford Street. Lovely food and cheap too.

Nope still open. Think it closes around noon though or soon after, probably opens quite early for workers in fruit market.

This threads given me a terrible hunger for what I used to get out in McCanns in Cookstown but its a: not the city centre, b: changed completely and c: nowhere near where I work...

Any decent "proper" caffs in East Wall or even the IFSC (highly unlikely that)

Flanagans on O Connell street ainec. Every time I'm up from the Kingdom we never get breakfast in the hotel and just go there. Savage feed for about €8.

Matt The Rashers wins for me. Not quite city centre though.
Famous breakfast is €9.50 and contains the following.
    4 Sausages
    2 Rashers
    2 Eggs
    Tomato
    Mushrooms
    Hash Brown
    Beans
    Black and White Pudding
    Pot of tea
    2 Toast
    Small orange juice.
