Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any interest in this? I usually enjoy it. Always a proper derby game.

A booking after 90 seconds, it should have been the second one :pac:

Yep more times than not these two throw out a great game

Another yellow, this could get messy.

Hopefully a yellow for Tiote (he's on 4 for the season), a Newcastle sending off and a Sunderland win. Good preparation for the United game on Stephen's day :pac:

How the hell is Tiote not booked yet?

I can't see Tiote getting through this without a card. A yellow is almost a given.

Yeah, he'll surely get done for persistent fouling at the very least. Commuted a few already.

Be careful what you wish for, only won 1 of 8 games Tiote has played in this season.

Need a keeper fit soon, young Jak doesn't inspire much confidence at all.

Crowd doing their best to get behind him but the sooner Krul is back fit the better

    Still no booking.

    Amazing.

Should have scored there, harder to miss.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

Ha, he gets one when he doesn't foul.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,299 ✭✭✭✭The Backwards Man

Gets booked for the one challenge that wasn't a foul!

Still, improves the chances against Man U

What a ball from Larsson, great effort too.

    Fletcher unlucky there.

Anlwick is an awful keeper, mistakes a plenty if Sunderland played the right ball in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 335 ✭✭kevinroche3333

Ameobi a total liability so far

That is an unforgivable miss by Gomez

    Awful, far too casual.

Does Alnwick know how to actually catch a ball?

    Oh, great save!

Good stop and effort. Has to be a goal in this soon.

Entertaining enough, but a real lack of quality in finishing by both teams so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Both teams are pooping their pants in front of goal

    Awful effort from Johnson.

Too many twists and turns there from Larsson, he had Coloccini done on the first one.

Any reason Cisse didnt start? Newcastle looked well short up front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Couldn't see it happening pre-game but an unprecedented 4 in a row now :D

A well deserved victory and it could have been more if Wickham, Johnson and Gomez hadn't missed massive chances.

With Hull to come at home on Boxing Day hopefully this game can be the kick start of turning some of these draws into wins.

Very surprised to see how quiet this match thread was, but I guess it shows the apathy many Newcastle fans now hold towards Pardew and co.

I watched the game back in a bit more of a relaxing setting before sitting down to Match of the Day.

While I do think we were relatively comfortable throughout, the real turning point for me was Pardew bringing on Cisse for Tiote after about 70 minutes. Sissoko was controlling midfield from the start of the second half up until that point, but that change really turned the screw in midfield. Newcastle's shape just disintegrated with it.

A bit rich for Pardew calling the players naive in the post-match interview when really he made a huge tactically naive decision today. I guess he can say he went for the win, but that wasn't the type of game to get brave in. As someone on Twitter said, he could probably see the "Pardew's substitutions wins derby for Newcastle" headlines in tomorrows papers!

How did Coates play Paully? From reading online, he got very good reviews?

Very shakey start but settled down after a while. Perez turned him inside out in the box a few times and only for poor finishing could/should have been punished. I thought he did okay bordering on good, but he must get additional credit as he wasn't supposed to be playing at all until Reveilere was injured in the warm up. Probably not as good as a lot of match reports are saying IMO but they can't all be wrong I guess. :pac:

As far as I'm aware he was injured, so I'd say a run of games will help him. I'm a fan of him tbh, and although he is probably a small bit off what is needed at Liverpool, he could do really well for another club.

I thought he was fairly composed considering he was on a yellow for 88 minutes in such a high intensity game, with Newcastle being the busier side for most of it.

I thought he had a shaky start too, but settled as the game went on.

Good last ditch tackle on Perez I think it was, especially as he was on a yellow.
