Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

advice on first "open letter"

    Hey guys,

Wonder if any of you fine people can help me out here.

I watched a documentary recently on Kurt Cobain and got a notion in my head that society had a large part to play in his suicide. I believe he was pushed to killing himself because of the pressures of becoming the voice of a generation. I also think that had he not become famous, the world would be a lesser place.

I have decided to spend a few hours over Christmas pitting my thoughts on the matter down and was wondering a few things.

Firstly, should it be called an open letter and what would I do once its finished? Send it in an email to rolling stone, hot press etc or post it on a forum

Should I follow a structure whilst writing my thoughts?

Should I be worried of offending people? My first choice for the name of the letter is "I killed Kurt Cobain".

Is this an idea that has been done to death already?

How long should it be or not be?

And finally, when reading articles about musicians, I usually cringe when I read lyrics in the article as I find it quite lazy of the author, should I reference songs or keep it strictly about my thoughts??

Thanks if anyone took the time to glance over this and more thanks if anyone writes back!

It all depends on how you do it. There is no set format for accusing the world of killing someone.

Write it, then go back and edit, edit, edit, then see where it is most likely to find a home.
