I am going to start having to pick a couple of tag teams soon as currently I only have 1 , not much of a tag division in my fed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Bazza Windham was my pick this round if Magnum got swipped. Thought Magnum would last a few more rounds but couldnt take the chance.

    Windham is a great pick.

I think we've 3 picks of this round left. Can we get the order for the next one up sometime today and of course the stip :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 129 ✭✭Sin Eater

Was thinking of taking Barry Windham at some stage too, great in his own right, but also US Express was a great tag team (and a good tag team partner with Dustin Runnels).

17! Had some awful draws this year but this is the only round I cared about from here on in :( Expecting a return to the drawing board by my pick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,600 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Well I won't be getting to go with my Plan B option with a draw of 15th. If I had gotten a high placing this round I would have pulled the trigger on that. A pity.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,823 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

At least you guys have an early pick in the Celeb round. Or are you not interested in celebs? a lot didn't pick them last year but the round was much early then.

well dead center I hadn't planned on a Celeb or a Pre 70's pick so it might not be too bad for me

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,364 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

No real interest in a celeb myself so unlikely to go with one.

Was hoping for a higher draw in round 9 myself also.

General discussed tpppc for next year, should the 70 rule be moved onto 75 rule next year? Pre 70s options are relatively limited imo and the draft is quite a few years old now so perhaps the 70s rule could move on a few years? Lots of new wrestlers are now available but the number restricted has not changed. Maybe the 70s rule was 60s before ???

Interesting idea and I wouldnt be apposed to it although maybe not by 5 years but if that was done id hope itd be like this years stip and not just one round where they are available otherwise you would end up with a load of great names going unpicked. Would further elaborate on that but can't point out which names yet

Wasn't planning on it. I had one in mind but it isn't an important person at all so didn't care if I didn't get them and chances are nobody else would go for it anyway. My would be pre-70s pick is the complete opposite but ah well, that's the game and I'll just work something else out if need be. Think there's a lack of star power in my roster tbh so I'll have to make up for it in my writing if I'm to improve on last year's showing.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this but I would favour scrapping pre-???? picks altogether. Just let all periods be eligible. I like the fact that LTSC has done this for the remainder of the game now. Why not try this from Round 1 next time?

I know some will say it's an interesting stip round and I agree, but between now and the next game there's plenty of time to brainstorm and come up with a fun alternative.

I don't agree. I find this stip to be interesting but I wouldn't want to see it every year. I think it really makes people think out side the box a little for picks and then when the round comes along they have to make an extremely tough choice as to who they want. I really like the rule.

Not that I dont like the stip, but I agree its a bit stale at this stage and new stips need to be implemented. I alwasy expect a celeb round and a pre 70 so Id love some new stips and these ones being abolished next year.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,823 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

You could always amalgamate them and have a celeb or pre 70s round for example. TSC kinda mentioned it but I was the one who suggested the change to this years pre 70s stip (they are available from this round not only in this round) as when the draft started I really liked the educational side of the draft and reseraching some of the older legends. Not to mention the fact that it means more of the best known names in PW can be picked in late rounds now instead of complete jobbers.

Wonder will we have another pick for someone elses roster round. It's usually good fun as people actually take it seriously though iirc it was pick for the person before you in the order (or if your no.1 you pick for no.20) so the person picking for you would know if you had been fair to the person before you. Also I think we had it that you also got to pick for yourself in that round so it wasnt a round where things slowed down with people not being as bothered about when their go is (which they may have been if they werent picking for themselves).

As a one off I wouldnt be apposed to a no pre any year rule too as it would give more options but I would then hope so that there is still a lot of challenge that the early rounds are more still filled i.e the ECW or ROH appearance rounds which I think work very nicely.

Well if we're throwing out ideas you could do something like:

Round 1: Has to been in ECW
Round 2: Has to have wrestled in anything but WWE
Round 3: Has to be a tag team
    Round 4: Pre 70s only
    Round 5: Normal round

Suddenly a lot of the "normal" picks for the first couple of rounds are no longer possible which will throw a complete curve ball for people and force some research and most likely set up main feuds that would normally not be done due to getting WWE star A, B and C in the first rounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,600 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Again perhaps I'm in a minority on this but I dislike stips that place limitations on rosters.

I'd even be in favour of doing away with the rule that says you have to draft people who've been in WWE, TNA, NWA etc which tends to cut off lots of indy/international talent. In my view better to just blow the whole thing wide open and let it be about drafting whomever you want.

I would favour keeping limitations on celebrities because otherwise you could end up with shows that look like Celebrity Big Brother.

I just think if the idea is that we are promoters who can draft people across several decades etc., the idea that there is this arbitrary barrier of 1970, 1975, or WWE, TNA, etc. just seems a bit silly to me.

A lot of this is my own fault though because when I did the first game in '08 I made it a WWE Draft which right away placed massive limitations on talent from the start. Bit by bit we've expanded it out further and further but imo the 'end-goal' should be to offer as much freedom of choice as possible.

I think people would be much happier if the game were made more open as far as name availability goes.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,364 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

I lke the stips, makes the game more fun than an open field. Its also good to have restrictions as not everyone is working from the same knowledge base so it at least makes the rosters more even.

Also i have brought up some rule changes a couple of times now , there is nothing wrong with the game and if it was to continue as is for maby years it would be great. Bringing up ideas for discussion more than anything else.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭A Brad Maddox Guy

I actually think that would risk reducing interest in the game. I know I'd personally have little interest in reading shows consisting solely of people I've never seen (for example a puro fed made up of mostly 90s Japanese wrestlers) which could be very possible without limitations. Maybe a compromise could be that everybody can pick a certain amount of people from outside the eligible promotions, but only 2 or 3. This could give the openness for more creativity that I'm sure many would enjoy.

You make a fair point. I didn't consider that side of it.

Yes, +1. The game is in fine fettle as it is. Most of the suggestions I'm throwing out would be with a view towards future games.

Also it gives me something else to think about while I mull over my next move!
