Yeah I honestly didn't think Joe would still be available, He usually wouldnt be at this stage though often that would be cos of yourself

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,484 ✭✭✭brianregan09

Happy to get Joe at this stage and a nice change with a decent draw for the next round too!

dunno if many will draft women TBC. Wouldnt be surprised if a few use your roster as a reason not to as the best women will be gone and why do something if you can't be the best at it. That said there are still some top quality female talent plus I think a few storyline women will be picked (Valets/love interests/managers)

Treat the RCW Champion well , He was awesome to write for last year

What's the generally concentous about drafting superstars you've had before. I know some guys/gals like to arch their work from their Feds of yesteryear.

I personally tend to avoid former shagnastii's and look at what kind of talent is still to be picked and try create red hot fueds that'd be fun to write.

I'd say nearly 90% of the game is developing angles and rivalies people are dying to see. Be that one that has happened already in life or one that for whatever reason never played out IRL.

I tend to draft same guys a lot but only cause I want to see my fed come across more real and often mention past rivalaries while writing current shows

If I recall correctly in '09, the second year of the Draft, it was suggested that there be a ban on picks you had made in the previous game, but as I recall people were unhappy with this as they felt it was too limiting, and they preferred the freedom to do as they wished.

Personally I think it's fun to use people you've never had before, although sometimes a former pick can be perceived as the smartest pick.

    Really like BH's roster now.

On a different note, with the growing interest in New Japan, i think the IWGP title could be classed as a world title from next year. It could be good for the draft if the great muta had to be picked on his own or Tanahashi couldn't be picked with Nakamura.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,484 ✭✭✭brianregan09

Yes a definite plus 1 on that front the IWGP title is definitely as prestigious if not more so than WWE title or the others eligible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,012 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

Would definitely agree about the IWGP title.

Especially when the TNA or even the WCW title are deemed as World title. The IWGP and what picks are worthy of it need to be classed as world title (says the man who claimed Muta and Chono:p)

    Pick made PM sent

I took them now I doubt anyone else wanted them but just in case I thought it safer to grab them

I have big plans for him don't worry and yeah i'd support adding the IWGP title to the list. Far more of a world title than the TNA one imo although it would mean the Japanese boyos will probably go a little bit later from now on.

1 pick id probably like the msot now but 2 others id be just as happy with, wonder will Beaker pick any of them before I get the chance

I'm really torn about my next pick so I'm sort of glad I've a decent bit of thinking time before my go. It's at that stage now where you have to pay closer attention to who others may go for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,484 ✭✭✭brianregan09

I know 100% who my next pick is ...and hopefully he'll still be available I have a backup but I'm not sure he'll suit as much , Can't wait for my pick because I can nearly start writing my opening show then :D

Erm bh I've got del rio since round 2

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

argh, thought it was odd he was still available, thanks for the heads up.

Happy with Vader anyway. That said this seems like it could turn into the tag team round. New Age outlaws & He WGTT are obviously very good picks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Personally i'd have Vader over Del Rio 100 times out of 100.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭A Brad Maddox Guy

Vader's popularity in Japan & the US makes him a great pick for your roster I think. Gives so many options.

Generally I would too, but for storyline purposes Del Rio could be very handy.

I know from this point onwards everyone i select will be specifically for a storyline i have in my head even though there may be better wrestlers out there

Same here, ive everyone selected in my head and should be all reachable. Id say all the big names will be gone in a few picks.

Think NAO were my least likely pick. Had a busy day yday and took me ages to get to my laptop. NAO was my 3rd pick logging on (WGTT was my no1 and another as yet unpicked was second ) but changed my mind last minute and thought 1997/98 Billy Gun/Road Dogg would be more suited to my angle than teh far superior wrestlers that are WGTT.

I think they can be right cocky heels, esp back in the late 97 so thats why they got my nod.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,755 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Use Shane well Brian, he served me well last year. Ive got his Daddy this year though.

I'm up now, and I'm only in the door from Manchester an hour, so I'll need to check my list vs who is gone.

Can say Vader was my top pick for this round so sad he's gone :(

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,610 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Decided to go with Simmons. Think he'll work into the overall story I've got plotting...

    DAMN!

sorry about taking Vader but he was the best available afaic although he is one I think I could potentially be convinced to trade once trades open up later, though that may only be because ive not really written an angle for him yet or atleast not one thats interchangeable i.e could be someone else in that role.

Still though very happy to have the Mastadon and tbh big Ron is great too and I think modern fans might not realize just how good he was

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,755 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Another of my roster goes....Rick Rude.

Served me well last year and is my current IC champ (or was) Good luck Raf

Quite nervous now! I've got every pick I've wanted so far (and an extra one) so I'm really hoping with 10 picks before me no-one takes who I want in this round. If I get who I want to get I'd be very happy with myself to be honest! Some really good picks in the last few rounds, surprised to see Vader and Simmons lasted so long!

Thanks man, really wanted him last year too but you beat me to it :pac:

yep Rude (esp plus Bundy) is a great pick and they were on my list

  • Registered Users Posts: 418 ✭✭lebowskilite

Rick Rude was my #1 pick for this round :(

I feel like I have to make my roster less contemporary with my next few picks.

Theres only 1 big pick I want (doubt id get him though) so ive got a few back ups in mind.

Its like wanting Frosties but accepting Dunnes own brand Frosted Flakes in case its out of stock.

Everyone else on my list aint a big name but could easily go as the rounds drop and depending on what the stip is

Some really good rosters this year so far. The main feuds on all are great. With Bryan Reigns Ambrose an Rollins coming into their own its really improved the draft.

Also I just noticed this weekend that picking on the weekends is awkward mainly because of the 24 hour rule....( don't get me wrong its needed) I had a lot on which I didn't expect and didnt plan my picks as well as I could have. That said I'm happy overall :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I had fun using Vader last year. One of the best monster heels ever. I really like that Rude and Bundy pick too.

A roster update would be much appreciated for a lazy bugger like me. :pac:

Pick made, still can't believe he lasted this long.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭A Brad Maddox Guy

In fairness it was Round 5 last year that I picked him too. Although the RoH opening round was probably a factor in delaying it then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,865 ✭✭✭Spongey1975

Had a nice wee storyline planned and had firstly Simmons planned for it and then Booker T but both have gone before me. On to the next storyline:D

I cant see a real stand out roster this year and based on what im seeing, each roster has a big star or 2 and a upper mid card in the works. Some rosters I look at look tasty for writing.

I'm looking fwd to seeing whether ShagNasti writes Rusev as a Bulgarian or as a resident of Russia who tours American 4 nights a week and has an inexplicable loyalty to Vladimir Putin.

Have Rollins and Heyman on my roster, there's a storyline that writes itself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

And with that I lose one of half of my next planned pick! Paige I had planned for my main event, but it's an easy re-write, I'd be more devastated if I lost her planned tag team partner

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

Was convinced MNG would actually take my pick. Now all I am worried about is Joe! If he doesn't take my pick, I should be safe!

Honestly I was sweating big time over whether or not I could hold off on drafting her for one more round, but I felt I just couldn't risk it so I'm pleased that I called the timing right. I have a fun story for her.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Actually had "Paige and her ma" noted down on my list of potential picks although I wasn't sure if Shimmer was an eligable promotion and/or if her ma had appeared in ROH etc.

could be a very shrewed pick imo and give another different dimension to MNG this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

    Is Shimmer eligible?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

No, I don't think Shimmer is eligible. I picked her based on her appearances under the NWA banner. I should have mentioned that in my post.

She wrestled for NWA France in 2008.
