Hi guys having a bit of trouble here. Last night went to change the brake pads on a 03 1.9tdi mk4 Vw golf and realised that the back left brake caliper has seized and won't wind back in fully.. I only done the brakes on this car a month ago and the inside pad is completely worn already.! So the lad that owns the car needs a new caliper asap as he needs to drive back to Cork on Stephens day. I know someone with the back calipers off a mk4 gti golf and can get them tonight but I'm wondering will they fit or will I have to get the discs off a mk4 gti aswell.? Any help or advice will be of great assistance

I shouldn't say this, will the caliper rewind enough to squeeze the inside pad from the other side in!?... It's just a quick fix and temporary... I've done it(for myself)before...

It depends. The 150bhp GTI uses the same 232mm solid disc rear brake setup as any non GTI. The 180bhp GTI has a larger diameter 256mm vented rear disc setup.
